Started off visit waiting quite a while for menus. Food was ok enough but service was abysmally slow. It almost seemed intentional. It was not busy. Waited over 10 minutes for a condiment before I got up and asked another server to get it for me. Ate my $26 sandwich COLD as a result. Won't be back.

I'm truly baffled by all the raving reviews this place has. Most obviously eat McDonald's for most of their meals so this is a step up for them.
First off, the food was as bland as cardboard. It had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I'm not kidding! The only thing going for it is that the food was hot, that's it. I had the Hungarian Goulash and it was abysmal. The red cabbage wasn't good either.
The service was the worst part. The only person who even said hello to me and looked me in the eye like a normal human being at the bar was the cook - and that's because the door was right in front of the kitchen. Other than him, I tried to strike up conversations with the wait staff and they replied to my questions, but were crude, rude and vulgar in their answers. It was extremely unprofessional. They were making sick promiscuous jokes like a social club.
Leave that garbage talk out of the restaurant!! No one wants to hear that filth while they are eating.
Not one person asked me how my food was, not once. All I heard the miserable bartender say to his coworker's was he complained about a different customer changing his mind about what drink he wanted and that he had to change it two times. So what? That's your job. It's maybe a shot or two and sugar water wasted; no skin off of your nose with the prices you charge.
DO NOT eat here. You will regret it. Lousy food and even worse service. I know what good food taste like, and this isn't it. Would it kill you to use spices? Does anybody know great food anymore? Apparently not.
Go to the real Mountain Brauhaus in Gardiner, NY (no affiliation with this place). That's REAL German food with FLAVOR.

Came down off of the Catskills Escarpment after a tiring 9 mile hike to Blackhead Mountain. Figured I'd grab dinner in Palenville or Hunter, but just down the road from the trailhead in Cairo I passed an unassuming building, but it had a sign that caught my eye - Mountain Brauhaus. What the heck, why not pull in and try it?
Passing through the door I was rather taken aback when I stepped into old Germany! A beer hall/restaurant with German decorations, waitresses wearing German dresses; a bar with a variety of German pilsners on tap, a musician playing live polka music, an open floor in the middle where customers were dancing, and a menu of German food options. I sat the bar enjoying a cold Hofbrau, took in the atmosphere, and ordered a plate of Weiner schnitzel with spaetzel and red cabbage that was delicious. It made my evening!

Great Atmosphere..Good entertainment..Food and Service was not the best.. Very disorganized wait staff.. Sauerbraten was more like a Ham Steak...the Jager Schnitzel was not breaded and fried just topped with Mushroom gravy...I've always had it breaded and fried at other places.. The black forest cake was still semi frozen ..It took 1 hour from getting the check to being able to pay..I was told the Restaurant was the good... apparently they've never to Zum Stamstisch in NYC..or even Bavarian Manor just down the road...Try them you'll see what I mean..

An good German restaurant with a very authentic feel. Looking out into the mountains and enjoying the atmosphere of this building and its decorations is really special. The food is good, and I’d come back to try the schnitzel for sure. The beers were cold and the experience itself was excellent - not something I’ve felt since the last time I was in Germany. A really excellent place to stop.

After a hike, there's this big German restaurant for family and friends. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and fun. The draft beer was delicious. It's a great vibe, I bet it would be really fun at night. They also offered to allow us to eat with our dog outside, but it's usually a sitting area for smokers. So we ate inside, but we couldn't bring our dog in.

Not a fancy place, but the atmosphere is authentic German! The food is outstanding, some of the best German food I've had in a long time. The service was great, prices were reasonable and the portions were large. It's off the beaten path, but worth the trip!
