Top notch restaurant. Would put this up against any manhattan steakhouse. Great service and food. Everything delicious. Wine menu a little over priced but literally only remotely negative thing I could say as everything else was perfect.

They have amazing lobster raviolis (despite only giving 5-6 raviolis, it’s still worth it).Their chicken parm is amazing (great portions given for this dish).My partner had lamb chop sticks and he loved them as well as the meatballs; I had calamari and it was great.

What happened to my favorite restaurant? I usually get a perfectly grilled ribeye, but this time I took the advice of my waiter, and ordered the Dover Sole. Instead of deboning the fish tableside, I was told that The Busboy would debone it in the kitchen and bring it back to me. What I got was a plate of mangled fish that was full of bones. This guy clearly had never deboned a fish in his entire life, let alone a $70 Dover Sole. The fish was inedible. On my way out, I told the manager/owner, who was very nice and apologetic, but at that point my meal was ruined, and my wallet was drained of $70+ for something that turned out to be garbage. It's too bad that this once-great restaurant has hit rock bottom. I'll never spend another penny there. I'll grab a Filet-O-Fish at the McD's drivethrough the next time I crave perfectly prepared seafood (at least in comparison to Averna).
Efficient and expert service! Food very good and accommodating with those that wanted to share a salad. Tasty cocktails. Two large parties made it impossible to hear but they left shortly after we arrived which was good. The ambience has a coldness and I'm not sure why. Closed blinds in all the windows and a lot of blue light all around? Overall a yummy dinner served by friendly people.
The waiters and staff were excellent. Very professional. The food was delicious. We were disappointed that There weren't any holiday decorations, especially Christmas decorations in the restaurant considering we had dinner at Christmas day. They could've been a little more festive ambience.

Let me give you the good first. Two of our group ordered steak, and each one was perfectly prepared, with temperatures exactly right - this is a steakhouse, after all. The staff was very friendly, as was the host/owner. The problem took the form of the Dover Sole special. I take some of the blame for not ordering steak at a steakhouse, but our waiter made the Dover Sole sound so good that I couldn't resist. When the food arrived, I was asked if I wanted the fish deboned, to which I said, "Of course," expecting it to be deboned tableside. Instead it was whisked away by someone our waiter called "The Busboy" who brought back 5 strips of fish that he had mangled while removing some of the bones. I was served a butchered fish that had A LOT of pinbones in it. After the 7th or 8th bite of fish and bones, I bailed, and asked for the remaining fish to be wrapped so that I could debone it at home and feed it to my cat...who clearly enjoyed the $70 piece of fish. It's sad that I had a terrible meal at a restaurant that I've come to enjoy on a regular basis. Up until last night, AVERNA was nearly perfect, but last night was a waste of time and money. It is, however the last time I'll spend my money at AVERNA. Luckily the diner was open, so I was able to stop on my way home to get a decent meal.

This is what Italian food should always be like! Really good service and just the right ambiance for a dinner with family or friends. We got a Friday evening reservation for a surprise birthday dinner with some friends. While the sea bass was excellent, they should really make the branzino their signature dish. A chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream is a awesome way to end the courses too. Oh, almost forgot to mention how hospitable the owner was. We are definitely coming back here.
