Wonderful food, usually great experiences. However, on November 22, 2025, Kyle the waiter was waiting on my “Black” friend who was a first timer. I asked him to give her his best specials and what came to mind was a Chicken Parmigiano pasta. He suggested she add “Fried Chicken”. She told him she doesn’t eat fried chicken. He was shocked. You could hear it in his voice, then told her she could add grilled chicken which was his double down.

Why didn’t he mention pizzas, or the wonderful salads they have? Also why “fried chicken?” I’ve gone there for years and have never seen it nor is it on the menu.

If what he meant was chicken cutlet then why not say chicken cutlet? Did he think a middle class, 30 year old black women wouldn’t know what a chicken cutlet was? On the menu this is what is stated:

CHICKEN PARMIGIANO
SAN MARZANO MARINARA, MOZZARELLA, SPAGHETTI GET IT VODKA STYLE $3
+ CHOICE OF CHICKEN CUTLET OR CRISPY EGGPLANT

What’s worse is that we had our toddlers with us. Hence it was really palatable.

Do I think he’s a racist? No. Do I think he’s smart and a good guy? Yes. Do I think he was doing his best to be relatable to a black women? Yes, but not all black people eat fried chicken.

If I were him I would have started out by asking her if she likes pasta, salads or pizza and just worked down the line, but to dive into friend chicken as an add on rather than salmon, or simply ask if she would be interested in adding on a protein.

Ask yourself if she were white would he have said chicken cutlet or fried chicken? My wife added chicken cutlet to her salad and he did not say fried chicken to her and she’s White.

Kyle could benefit from reading Travis Bradberry’s “Emotional Intelligence 2.0”. It’s a great book on measuring your words, based on your audience, with a strong focus on measuring how your words impact others.

Work on your implicit biasses.

Foods pretty good come many times before and will again. I highly recommend getting the pasta alla vodka and the Roman pizza.

Food poisoning from the Picante Pizza. What a shame because the place looked nice and who doesn't like wood-fired ovens.

Simple menu, easy ordering.
Auto 20% gratuity on parties of 6, even when two of those are toddlers and one is asleep. One Star for poor discretion that reflects a nickel and dime culture.
Food was okay. Pizza was good, undercarriage could use a little more crisp. Margarita Pizza could use some more basil.
Two forks, a knife, and one cup were dirty, so you might want to bring a wipe or your own silverware.
Two bathrooms for the entire restaurant, which could be an issue when it’s busier.

Wood & Fire was very good. We were there for a after funeral lunch. This was our 2nd time there. Food was very good, service also good. We had thier pizza, meat balls, eggplant parm, pasta mozzarella. All well done.
We were in the back section which was nice, but, the resturant area was a bit crowded. It difficult to pass through and your very close to the next table.

Wow… I can’t believe I overlooked this place for this long. I used to work at this location when it was called Mezzaluna over a decade ago and I feel embarrassed I’ve never ate here in restaurant before and it was a great experience.. myself and a few family members got together for a quick lunch and I was very surprised how good the pizza was.. we got a Sicilian with cherry peppers and the Roman I believe which was very thin style crust (thinner then usual) with minced garlic and it was phenomenal. I had the Scarsdale salad and it was the best salad I’ve ever had in my life. I got it with blackened chicken. The food here is great… deff be back

Excellent for family dinner's we usually share a couple of pizzas a pasta dish and a salad. Only complaint and the reason for 4 stars on service is that the service is usually slow.

Very good place to go, this place gives me a modern-Italian impression. They have very good drinks, pizza, but food takes sooo long, don't miss Tuesday Margaritas special

Overpriced pizza would go back to try the pasta

Everything was expensive. The place was extremely loud, as in you have to shout to be heard by others at your table. The server returned our wrapped food UPSIDE DOWN, and its contents leaked as a result. It took three hours to serve eight people a two course meal, and the servers completely disappeared after lunch.
