This place was a disappointment for sure. I agree with another reviewer about how it was cluttered in a hoarder way. There was even a pile of old dirty shoes in the bathroom. Very odd.

It smelled so strongly of fried food that it stayed in our hair and clothes all day. Took me three shampoos to get it out of my hair.

Service was unfathomably slow. No exaggeration, took us 50 minutes to get our food and there were only two other parties in there. One got their food right after we got there and another came in after us and hadn’t gotten their food by the time we left. By the time we got our food we had to shovel it down or we’d have been late for our show.

They had no ice which is wild to me. They only offered rice milk or cream for dairy options which is odd for a places that’s supposed to be vegan friendly. My iced coffee tasted like jet fuel. I will admit that the food, when we finally got it, was good. Not enough to excuse everything else though.

Also, they only except cash which always feels really sketchy to me. With so many food options in Schenectady, I unfortunately can’t recommend this be one of them.

Really cool place to hit up on Sunday night during the open mic (6:30 - 9pm). Lots of talented local players with an even mix of covers and originals. Kenneth Kimball is an awesome host and musician. Excellent ice cream and great selection of Blue Sky and Dr. Browns sodas as well!

Instantly, this place reminded me of going back in time to the good old days of genuine, kind, community service. The cardamom spice in coffee has been a new introduction to my favorite spices to add to coffee. The owner adds this spice to coffee for a great balanced flavor no additives needed. I bought the homemade Carmel Apple slice & a coffee to go. The atmosphere reminded me of the warmth and comfort of real hospitality that fit the historical downtown scotia area of Schenectady, NY.

I adore the vibe it felt like having a home cooked meal, everything was made fresh by the super kind chef and the variety of vegan options is insane, so many unique dishes I can't wait to try! For the price too its even better!

Vegetarian options: Almost everything can be made vegan!

First time here with my wife. Im a local chef from an upscale restaurant and i was humbled by the simplicityof the food and ambiance of the decor. I had brown rice, grilled chicken with grilled vegetables and my wife enjoyed Pierogies. All were hot and fresh and flavorful. Our server was the chef and he did a great job. I cant wait to go back. I’ve never felt more comfortable in a dining room. It was literally like eating dinner in my grandma’s house. I loved it! Great job! Well be back!!!!

I had a lovely intimate lunch with the owner preparing me a delicious omelette and a tomato salad. Highly recommend giving Richard free rein to prepare you “something” around your preferences and dietary restrictions if it’s slow. Ask him about his life and talk to him about world events.

My 2nd time stopping here at this cozy place in Schenectady off-hours for a quiet peaceful meal... the gentleman who took care of us was once again friendly and accommodating... he pretty much runs the show himself, so this is a place where patience is rewarded, to be sure. The omelette I had today is 10x tastier than any I can get in the city. I also don't know why we bring books of our own when his shelves are filled with fascinating stuff to flip through, not to mention games too. I look forward to another visit next chance I get.

We had a delicious lunch at The Moon and River Cafe today. Reubens , Thai fries, beet salad and blueberry pie all vegan and kindly prepared and served by Richard as always. We have been there several times and will definitely be back !

Nice little spot. Met a young man in college at scc who is making his path in the music industry. He is a very intelligent young black man and i am very proud of him. He played 2 song's on the piano for us and he did very well.
