Morrocan food in Schenectady in practically unknown but thanks to Chef Aneesa Waheed, Tara Kitchen has become The Electric City's best kept secret. They serve up their tagines and lunch buffet with a side of great atmosphere, good food and great service.

Visited last evening for an early supper before a show at Proctor's. The meal was superior to the show. The dining room was not yet open so I sat at the bar. Cozy. One of the best tagines I have ever eaten. Hearty, rich, well seasoned. Perfect for a cold, windy winter evening. Worth the money. Generous portion that I get to enjoy again today at lunch time. Will visit again.Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten-free, vegetarian and dairy free options. The food is stunning.

This was the worst lunch I ever had. They mixed together lentils, canned artichoke hearts, stewed tomatoes, mushy eggplant, Spanish olives, raisins, and some potatoes into something that tasted like dirty dishwater. I took three bites and realized it was inedible. Completely. It seemed as if they scraped the dishes of previous diners and maybe fished some discarded food from the garbage to throw together on our plates. I also found the service to be untrained, unfriendly, unwelcoming, and incompetent. The establishment seemed dirty, too: the kitchen did not appear sanitary, the tables and menus were sticky, and the bathrooms were uncleaned. I will not return. Ever. Good luck to you if you dare to eat at Tara Kitchen in Schenectady. Make sure you have health insurance.

We had a party of nine people and we all loved the foods we got. I can't wait to go back and try something new. Very friendly and helpful service. Food was very delicious as

I had seen this restaurant featured on spectrum and have been wanting to try for a while. Last night was the night. First it is a very cramped space. The entire restaurant is narrow. It was busy when I arrived. Every table was taken so you'd expect it would be good. We ordered the potato cakes. They were good enough. Then I ordered the chicken piccata and my friend ordered chicken and lentil tagline. The meals were really underwhelming. The tagine was supposed to come with rice and pita and did not. The place was very dark and cold no matter where you were sitting. I don't mind a good dive place but not this one.

The lamb, bean, cabbage, and carrots tangine has incredible flavors. I tried my friends chicken tangine with figs and tomato jam and that was also very tasty. Excellent service. I'm definitely going back to try another tangine.

Our food was cold, came late, never had a slower service in any other place before, but the food was one of the best still! The lamb and egg plant, the sampler plate with bread and the lamb kebab all tasted so delicious.

Do not miss a chance to come here and get a fantastic dinner!! The food is a step above most local restaurants and moderately priced. Everything is wonderfully spiced and the food comes out piping hot. We had the 3 sauce appetizer,, 2 chicken dishes and a spicy vegetarian dish. We ate it all because it was so good. We will definitely be back:)

Overpriced food. We ordered a lamb with honey and a fish and shrimp in tomato sauce. Lamb with honey costed $29 and fish and shrimp was $27. The portion was not worth the price at all. The taste was not good either. taste of fish and shrimp was average. The taste of lamb with honey was super sweet. It was difficult to eat a bite without bread or rice. Also, they served rice and bread in tiny plates, so the amount of carb was not enough as well. I would recommend the restaurant to lower their prices and also work on their menu and recipes to make the food more balanced.
