The Memphis King BBQ

Let me tell you what! Husband and I drove over and made it just in time. I had seen on their website that they very rarely have a day where they don’t sell out and they weren’t kidding. We showed up around 4:45 and they were getting ready to close but we were warmly welcomed and told to take our time. We also were offered the last bit of brisket to buy too and so glad we didn’t say no! We each ordered a macncheese bowl- one with pulled pork and one with pulled chicken, jalapeños and onions. I didn’t get her name but the very sweet and kind woman who helped us also offered us more sauces too- we were so appreciative of the hospitality we received and not to mention this food was out of this world. A must stop a must try! Can’t wait until we get the opportunity to come again and def going to plan for earlier 😂 THANK YOU GUYS!!!

Got cornbread, 3 racks of ribs and a few pounds of pulled meat for a party. Everything was amazing and delicious, and the staff is always very helpful and kind.

I love love love this restaurant! My favorites are the chicken thighs, smoked chicken salad, and their smoked meats. The white BBQ sauce is AMAZING and tastes great on everything! It had a little extra garlic in my recent order, and it was phenomenal! 💜

My family and I stopped in yesterday because we have heard such good things about the this place. we were super hungry and figured let's stop in.. Soooooo glad we did... We were all super hungry and one of the owners( I am terrible with names)came out with some cheese and meat for us to try.. it was awesome.. The food was amazing.. I am so glad we decided to stop and grab some fresh and delicious food.. thank you guys so much..Definitely need to stop back soon to grab some more food and smoked cream cheese and smoked Buffalo dip..

Hands down the best BBQ on the Capital District!

Ok, so this is a very overdue review that I had promised the young lady that waited on me that I would do. First off the chocolate chip cookie that you gave me to try was amazing. Soft and gooey in the middle but crisp and buttery around the edges. It was amazing. Now for the food. I got an order of pulled pork, an order of the beef brisket, an order of the mac and cheese, and an order of the maccaroni salad. First thing I would say is to suggestive sell some kind of sauce to go with it. I was expecting at least a house sauce or something and got none. I did see that they sold different kinds of sauces but was a little surprised that none came with the food. I must have missed that. It could be a good upsell to your customers. A simple thing like that does not come with any sauce, would you like to try...."xyz" sauce its my favorite. Secondly, the meats came just wrapped in aluminum foil. As I was driving around this made it very difficult to keep from making a mess in my truck. I did a little search online and 100 aluminum dishes with lids are only $9.99. Making them only about 10 cents a piece. It might be a viable solution compared to just wrapping and serving in aluminum foil. The pulled pork was vey lightly smoked and seemed like it needed more seasoning. It did not have any salty taste and seemed under seasoned to me. The brisket however was amazing. It had great flavor, well seasoned and was sliced perfect for sandwiches. It could have been a little juicier but it had cooled a little by the time I ate it. So that could have been part of the reason. The mac and cheese was very cheesy and creamy. Not baked to death and dried out. As for the macaroni salad it was just average. There were spices that overpowered it and made it taste more like eating a vegetarian type salad. All in all I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Definitely worth a visit and trying all their options. The last thing I have to mention is the by the pound pricing on their meats. Many places charge $16 to $24 per pound on their smoked meats. The prices here are half that. So if you are looking for a good family meal that is easy on the wallet, this is your place for BBQ.

Listen, if you are reading this right now and you are on the fence about this place, here’s your sign to go. I haven’t been in about a year because I moved away but I still think of this restaurant WEEKLY. Good luck ever again finding a better BBQ place after trying here, really, good luck, you won’t be able to. They are nice here, the food is beyond good, I’m pretty sure I’ve dreamt about it one time. Seriously, it’s that good. If I win the lottery I’m investing in this place. I want to work here just so I can be paid in the food.
Whatever you guys are doing there, you do phenomenally, everyone should try this place.

My husband and I drove down from Syracuse and unfortunately when we got there, they were getting ready to close because they ran out of pretty much everything for the day. The owner’s sister asked me what we were planning on ordering and I mentioned their brisket, burnt ends, buffalo Mac & cheese and jalapeño cornbread. She says “give me one second. Let me see what we can do.” She comes back and says they were prepping for a party the next day, but that they would have more than enough to give us exactly what we wanted. She even baked me a fresh tray of the jalapeño corn bread. Their brisket is the best I’ve ever had in NY and hands down could compete with any southern bbq. But more than the food is the excellent customer service. We will gladly drive 2 hours each way just for this kind of customer service and good food! Thank you so much for going above and beyond for us!
