Not a very busy night for being Valentine's weekend and now I know why. The food just isn't good. The meatballs appetizer were very dense and hard. The penna à la vodka was more like baked ziti, not a hint of cream. The linguine with clam sauce was tasteless. Our waiter said the kitchen was having some issues with the orders. Yeah they didn't know how to cook. Harsh? Maybe but right on point.
We had a fabulous dinner last night at The Ritz. This was my first time here and enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere was beautiful and my dinner very good. Our server Nicole, was so sweet and attentive. The entire experience was outstanding and we look forward to returning very soon. Thank you to the hostess Maria, for also making our experience so enjoyable.

The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is great. We had Nicole S as a server and she did an awesome job of taking care of our group. I'll definitely be coming again.

If you recognize great business, you’re going to LOVE this place!! From 5-Star food with a wealth of GF & Vegetarian options to accommodate some restrictive diets, to the relaxed atmosphere and, all capped off with absolutely STELLAR service!!!
All of the Staff I encountered were kind and fun in their own right. Our Server, Bella however is the type of person a Restaurant would DREAM to have 5 more of. She is an absolute treasure of a human who we discussed with as much adoration as we shared for the delicious food and drinks she brought us. The food and drinks deliver a quality that exceeds their price-point which is increasingly hard to find.
I greatly respect the Business of Restaurant, it is not easy. Even still I grade exceptionally hard. This place is easily 10/10. Little details that separate “really good” establishments from “really great” business are often lost in the shuffle of a busy restaurant. The Ritz stands up and shines in my book by still serving warm bread & butter (which may be an ideal that I have carried on from my grandfather) and, with a present Owner/Manager circulating the room, running food and checking on tables to keep a pulse on the guest experience.
The point is, they’re doing something really genuinely wholesome and good at all levels here, and it makes The Ritz on Union really very special.

Food was fabulous! Calamari cooked to perfection, crispy brussel sprouts were delicious so you knew we were in for a great meal. Atmosphere was nice but the food was over the top. Never ate the NYC Ritz but it can't be better than the Ritz on Union.
Good food- we were both happy with our meals. He's a seafood connoisseur who can be a harsh critic of subpar fare. I'm a gluten-free vegetarian, so it's not always easy to find a place where we'll both be happy. Our regular, go-to restaurant was booked solid for New Years Eve, so we tried the Ritz. Our food was good, portions were hearty, our waitress was attentive, my cocktail was perfect, and the bill was quite reasonable. We'll definitely go back!
Excellent food and service. I appreciate that the menu had allergen information. Space was beautifully decorated and clean.
Restaurant was crowded when we arrived so noise level was very high. It's not a huge space and tables pretty close together so we had to speak above the crowd. Service was prompt and attentive with our server very cordial. Entrees however were overcooked (we both had eggplant parmigiana) with edges actually burnt on both orders. Spaghetti was served tossed with sauce and a bit dried out. Coffee was cold so at least a fresh pot was brewed. Overall experience not the best but we did give it a shot.
Went before a show at proctors. My gluten free hamburger was served on bread, no roll, and it was COMPLETELY RAW! My daughter ha macaroni and cheese and there was very very little macaroni. The food was really gross.
The restaurant has a great vibe, the food was excellent and our server Nicole was great! Would highly recommend to friends.

Well prepared meals. Our server, Samantha was excellent. I highly recommend The Ritz on Union. The scallops were done to perfection. Prices were quite reasonable. Looking forward to returning on our next visit to Schenectady.
I've dined here multiple times before, and hopefully the most recent experience was just an off night. They've changed the menu and it's now very balsamic heavy, which may be great for some people, but wasn't to our taste. It was on the calamari, salmon, and pizza! And our server essentially ignored us once the food dropped, no refills, and we had to ask another server to bring our tab. Disappointing because we've had great experiences here before,
Food was delicious and well presented. Lighting was wonderful for a quiet relaxing dinner. Our waitress was very attentive and well prepared when we came into the restaurant and one of the guests has a mobility scooter. Making this one of our favorite spots to dine out. Also opened on Monday where many other restaurants are closed.
We always have a nice time here! Food is always great. Tonight we were waited on by Ms. Amy. We hope we didn’t get her into trouble by roping her into conversation! But once we started talking about things we all had in common, it was hard to stop. She struck a great balance between efficiency and friendliness. We, of course, will be back as our trips to Rivers will now always include a yummy dinner at The Ritz first.
