This review is long overdue! We LOVE eating at the cafe! The quality of the food and the service is better than many "fine dining" places in the Capital District! Every waitress has now become a friend. They remember our orders and ALWAYS have a smile on their faces! The food is simply delicious and is always of the highest quality, regardless of what you order. The store is so relaxing to walk around and browse - we always find something to buy as a gift or for our home. One of our favorite businesses ever! The management must be excellent because it radiates throughout the store and cafe.

My family and I had such a pleasant lunch experience at The Apple Barrel Store + Cafe this past weekend. We met some friends at the cafe, which is the perfect halfway point for us to meet.The delicious food, delightful service, and overall atmosphere was quite pleasant and enjoyable. We enjoyed the mimosa and beer selection, plus the daily specials. The store was an extra treat to look through. We will definitely be back!Maddie/Maddy was our waitress, she was exceptional! She was very accommodating and helpful toward us, and our young children.
I was heading towards Howe Caverns and we stopped at Apple Barrel Country Store & Cafe for lunch. We first walked through the store and saw a variety of really cute home decor items and other specialty items. Towards the back is the cafe. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose to have lunch on the outside deck embracing the scenic beauty of The Schoharie Valley. We ordered a peach iced tea, Downeast peach mango cider, a small shrimp and lobster chowder, and two grilled paninis - travelers treasure and county first prize. Both grilled paninis was served with a pickle and homemade potato chips. The travelers treasure consisted of oven roasted turkey breast, marinated artichokes, melted provolone cheese, tomatoes, and Robert Rothchild's Caramelized Onion Balsamic spread on grilled ciabatta bread. The county first prize consisted of seasoned roast beef is sliced and layered with melted cheddar cheese and caramelized onions, then combined with Robert Rothchild's onion blossom horseradish sauce and served on grilled ciabatta bread. The county first prize was delicious and very filling. All the portions were a great size. Service was wonderful from start to end. It was so relaxing to have a meal here and just embracing the nature around us. After eating, we walked around the store some more. There is plenty of parking spaces.
