Consistently one of the best dining experiences I've had on Long Island. The food is so authentic and yet incredibly inventive. (We ordered the short rib Rogan Josh and it was delicious! The same feel as lamb rogan josh but with buttery perfectly cooked short rib). Jay and Raquel are also two of the nicest proprietors I've ever met. I've hosted 2 events with them so far and they've always gone above and beyond for us. highly highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Had a very nice brunch at the onion tree - 5/5 overall Food: 5/5 some really interesting Indian fusion flavors here... the gumbo had an incredible depth of flavor and truly was one of a kind. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was something unique as well with a spicy hollandaise sauce Drink: n/aAmbience: 4.5/5 an interesting ambience inside, and a homey feel.Service: 5/5 it wasn't crowded when we walked in and our server was super helpful tending to our table, giving recommendations and chatting with us.

Delicious upscale Indian cuisine and the pizzas great too! The short ribs were amazing as was the chicken curry. Everything is seasoned so nicely that you still appreciate the beef and chicken. Their margarita was the perfect accompaniment. Will definitely take my friends who say "they don't like Indian food". Can't wait to go back. Plus it's surprisingly quiet and cozy inside and our waiter was really friendly and helpful.

I visited here back in the spring for a celebratory brunch after church and we genuinely had such a blast! We came for brunch and got the $36 2-course option and got the Kerala egg roast, dosa waffle, and egg chaat for mains, with the Bombay gumbo and waffle bites as starters. We enjoyed every bite so much, my only complaint (and this is my own fault) is that we had SO MANY EGGS for brunch lol! But I would definitely come here again for dinner and try some of their non-egg specialties because I can't believe how underrated and undiscovered this gem of a restaurant is!!!! Bonus points for extremely sweet wait staff!

I have eaten at the Onion Tree a few times and found the food to be so delicious that I placed a catering order for a party. Not only was I impressed with the warming & flavorful Chicken Tikka, Kanada Vegetable Curry, and Dosa Waffles- but new to my palette was the artistically arranged Samosa Chaat-deconstructed- )OMG is the only word I can convey) warm, & topped with sweet & savory chutneys, and fresh pomegranates, aesthetically beautiful and a delight on the palette. However I was most impressed with the kindness of the owner who took the time to explain the menu in detail before I placed my order.... and she personally delivered the food and set up the appetizer platters for the guests. Very interesting dishes.Food was pre seasoned. You could not get any dishes that were mild to slightly spicy. Our party of six gave it mixed reviews. Service was fine. Caesar salad was good and the stringbeans were charred. I was the on,y vegetarian/ pescatarian. They did have fish but that was over $40 way too much for a neighborhood restaurant that I didn't know. After dinner I spoke to the owner with my concern and she seemed like she really didn't care.. she told me I could've had the pizza. not going back there.Very disappointed.

I was so utterly impressed by the food at The Onion Tree. This place is a total hidden gem. I knew that I loved the ambiance of the restaurant and outdoor space, since I had been to previous restaurant renditions of this space, but I had never tried The Onion Tree. The food went way above and beyond my expectations! We sat outside on a lovely summer day. The beer, wine, and cocktail list is long and impressive. While we ordered a draft beer, the cocktails looked fantastic. The table next to ours got the beautiful smoky margarita cocktail - and the smoke smelled delicious even from our table! We ordered the chicken tikka masala pizza and the Ringna Bateta (eggplant and potato curry). The pizza came out first. The crust/dough was notably delicious. Perfectly well done with just the right amount of char + chewiness. Chicken tikka on a pizza is revolutionary! It was spicy (with full, crunchy chiles on the pizza) and, best of all, it was COVERED with crispy herbs: cilantro and, I think, bay leaves? Or some kind of delicious, crispy, light green leaf (perhaps not bay, since they are usually so hard?). The combination of INTENSE flavor and TEXTURE was truly out of this world. We live in the city and... I've never had this level of nuance in a dish there, truly! The eggplant and potato curry was awesome, too. It came with a generous serving of delicious rice, roti, and cucumber/tomato/onion chutney. There were two small, full eggplants and 4 small potatoes, covered with a delicious and unique curry sauce that was more flavorful than creamy, as one might be used to. The tiny eggplants were sweet and packed with flavor, as were the small potatoes. I was, again, blown away. We can't wait to come back to The Onion Tree and try more of their menu! What a treasure!

Food was tasty but the portion size was extremely small for the money. Bread used had the consistency of bruschetta and was hard to cut through. Staff extremely friendly but service was lacking. After waiting awhile for an order I placed I had to get the attention of another waiter to bring it to me. Ordered something else and never received it. The place is cozy and has a great vibe..they just need to step up their game and not be so stingy with the portions. Will I return….probably will give them another chance.

Visited Onion Tree last night and loved it. It's a hidden gem in Sea Cliff. India has 26 states and each state has different food, many restaurants only give importance to Chicken tikka masala or butter chicken. But there is so much more to what India has to offer when it comes to food. Onion tree does a great job in bringing food from different cities and cultures of India. The ambience, food and service is great!

I recently came to this restaurant with my family and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal with excellent service. The staff is incredibly welcoming and make you feel at home.We ordered the butter chicken which is something I now dream about (it's a must!). The dosa waffle also really stood out for me. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of savory flavor.On top of everything, the owner even sent over a drink to finish off our meals! The food was excellent and the overall experience was 12 out of 10. Can honestly say that this will be a new regular spot of mine!
