I get to eat here a lot since I work in the area. I must say the service is always fantastic and they keep the place well kept at all times. Rates are fair and they serve sizeable portions.

I have gone to the WW with friends and family and always found it a great place to have dinner or lunch , it's in a word comfortable and welcoming. don't go if your boujee. This restaurant is for real people . The food is well prepared and delicious. They seemingly will let you stay until closing if you want , a very low key place .

Food was very sub par and expensive. Service was rather abysmal leaving me feeling no sense of welcoming. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant.

We live Up-State in Dutchess County, came down to Nassau for funeral of an old friend. I found the White Whale using a TripAdvisor search. We love both sea food and German. On Friday I dined on Manhattan Clam Chowder and a Dozen Clams. My wife had a German lunch special. Both were GREAT. (Note: We were the only ones in the restaurant, there were several people in the Bar. Saturday evening we decided to return for Dinner. After a great lunch, what could go wrong? The Bar & Restaurant we’re now busy. We had reservations and were immediately seated. We both ordered Wine, the waitress quickly filled the order. Traditional German meals were ordered. It took awhile for the meals to be served, chocked it up to busy evening. My wife had A cup of Bisque and Salmon. She complained the Bisque was bland pure liquid with No Seafood or Lobster, nothing! The Salmon was burned, over cooked, she ate 1/2 and left the other 1/2. (She always takes left overs home.) I had Jager Schnitzel and pancakes. The Schnitzel was tough, over cooked, hard to cut with a knife. The Pancakes were burned black around the edges, served with a little plastic cup of applesauce, no sour cream. The red cabbage was coarse and thick, did not taste like German red cabbage. We both left the cabbage after the first taste. The waitress never returned, we had wanted to order a second glass of Wine. When we finally got her attention, we got the check and left. We drove to another restaurant for the wine, desert and coffee.

Service was wonderful. Atmosphere was amazing. Pricing was good for the great meal. We will make this a yearly stop, for our holiday visits.
