If I want good brisket, I usually go to downtown St.Louis. If I want good pulled pork, I would usually just go home to the Iowa State Fair. If I want the flakiest pastries I previously would go back to Lyon, but now I am convinced I can get great versions of all of these things in Newfield--of all places. And apparently their best dish is vegetarian? A roasted vegetable sandwich? So I didn't even get the best thing??

Ithaca is a town of mid restaurants, this is not one of them. It's new, it's developing, but the food is already top tier. Hop in your car and get to State Bakery & BBQ, my gosh.

My girlfriend Marcia invited me to lunch today with her and I was so amazed how great the food was. We had the brisket and it was so tender and juicy. The staff was so friendly. I would highly recommend this place if you like bbq.

Absolutely phenomenal chicken sandwich. I'm assuming they made the roll that it was on as well which was spectacular.

Having recently had croissants in Paris I realized they are completely different from what we have here. However, the one I had at State today is super super close and absolutely the best croissant I've ever had in the states. I'm not entirely sure if I tasted them blind side by side that I would be able to correctly guess which one was from Paris. So incredibly good!

Wow. The pastries were simply amazing. We tried three different ones and they were just so good! Interesting flavors, fresh, amazing bakes. We’ll absolutely come back to try more.

My neighbor brought over two cinnamon cruffins as a jester of kindness for a recent family loss. Let me say this was the most incredible edible yummy for my tummy comfort food I've ever had. Even just looking at it, I knew I had to make a fresh pot of coffee just to enjoy with it. It was crispy, flakey, sugary cinnamon goodness with that nice dollop of whipped cream cheese filling. I savored every bite. I would not be surprised if they went viral. It made a sad day just a bit sweeter. I can't wait to get some more.

The best. I grew up in New Jersey, bridge and tunnel to NYC. My dad was a french culinary trained Chef - miss him and his food and his endless knowledge about butchering and memorable recipes. State Bakery is a slice of home for me. The team behind the counter are attentive and generous. Burnt ends - a gift. Perfectly warmed skillet Mac and cheese served with ICE cold German style potato salad (maybe a little horseradish radish in there?) actual tears in my eyes when I taste the bark on the brisket. The pastries, to die for. Everything is crisp, flaky and never too sweet. The almond cookie - a chewy, delicate cookie with a perfectly toasted pile of almonds on top. Never disappoints.

I had the brisket sandwich but was underwhelmed by the amount of meat on it.. too much bread for me. compared to the brisket . I took it off the bun and ate it . I couldn't taste the brisket with the bun. Next time I'll just order the brisket. Friendly service.

Every smart cook should team with a baker. The breakfast sandwich was divine and half of that divinity came from that biscuit! ?

Not at all impressed. Portions were tiny, meat was dry. Bun was underwhelming...but it made up most of the sandwich...ok..I understand that it's a homespun mom and pop business. Eating in a side yard on a rickety plastic picnic table is not my idea of a nice experience. $25.00 for literally 4 slices of brisket and a beverage. Actually, the beverage was a highpoint... hibiscus and rose tea... delicious...got two croissants to go.. waiting to try for breakfast tomorrow morning. All in all..will not visit again. One star

Got to this shack at 10:30. Waited in line behind 2 people. At 10:34 went up to order breakfast and was told they don’t serve breakfast after 1030 and I couldn’t order lunch until 11. She pointed to a tray of stale pastries and said that’s all they had for the next 30 minutes. I bought a $6 croissant because I was starving and after trying it, I would have been better off getting a donut from Dunkin. I guess that’s why this place can only afford to be open 2 days a week.
