Best ice cream and chill at Northern Lake George. Can't beat the trivia! Origin of Adirondack Creamery Ice Cream.

Truly love Silver Bay and it’s heartbreaking how unaffordable it’s become now that they’ve decided to stop booking Hemlock and Overlook. If you can’t “make money” on the Hemlock rooms you probably shouldn’t be managing a place like Silver Bay! It’s just become nearly impossible to attend a summer week for a young family. Not everyone visiting the campus is looking for a carpeted hotel room. Some people with young kids just want a place to hang wet towels and heap their toddler’s beach toys by the door. Gone are the days of this place being inclusive.

I loved the quilts on the beds, which gave them a homey touch. The breakfast and salad bars at every meal were amazing! The facilities were clean and well-kept, and the staff were kind and accommodating to our large family with small children. We loved the rock climbing in the gym and the little library, which was well stocked!

Silver Bay is a wonderful retreat from life — whether you want to relax with a book and gaze at the beauty of this place or take a hike, kayak & play tennis…there’s something for everyone at any age! Highly recommend!!

This place is amazing! We had people from age 11 to 82 and everyone had plenty to do and enjoy. The combination of great staff, diverse and amount of activities along with the 3rd cleanest lake in the country and all the surrounding beauty makes it a guaranteed destination for quality family time. We all came away refreshed, with relationships strengthened and feeling like better people overall. It’s hard to fully communicate the overall vibe of silver bay, but not hard to know how rare and special it is. Amazing!

Still wish the dining hall would compost and decrease serving meat, put more emphasis on serving vegetarian cuisine. The beach at the lake and the boat house are great features! The view of the mountains allows everyone to decompress. The flower gardens are exceptional.

This relaxing, rustic, remote, remarkable retreat is not for those folk who want to be pampered and catered to. If you love nature, the clearest water, mountains to hike with trailheads across the road, music to soothe your soul, a simple flow of camaderie, the milky way and brightest stars at night, interesting programs, and all water sports, this is the place. I loved it.

My friend and I rented Birch Cottage. It's a lovely setting with lake views. The staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy swimming, kayaking, Silver Spirit boatride, hiking, Vespers, walking the grounds, meeting other guests!

Silver Bay is gorgeous and completely unique. When friends say they have been to beautiful Lake George I am not impressed unless they’ve been to Silver Bay. The variety of activities and programming is without compare, and the friendliness and feeling of community is amazing and delightful. 4 generations of my family have now fallen in love with it.

Silver Bay is the most beautiful oasis for rest and relaxation. I was able to step away from the hectic life at home and enjoy being out on the water, hiking, swimming, and so many other activities that are available at this beautiful place. The history of Silver Bay makes it even more impactful as a place to stay...you can feel the long standing roots of so many people here, it is truly a beloved place with a rich history. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to escape into a beautiful environment and recharge your soul.

Grain of salt—they are dealing w covid regulations, so fewer people around, restaurant style dining instead of buffet, social distanced seating. We stayed in the building with AC, so meals were included. There are no TVs, little wifi and cell service. You are warned in advance. The room was large and clean —very conference center-y. Dining was scheduled in shifts to avoid crowds—but a daily 730 was rough for a vacation. The meals were a bit awkward—staff would take your order—but there werent really choices. More like ‘dinner roll, salad, chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetable’ and you would just name it back. It was dining hall food. Nothing fancy. Always a vegetarian option. Often something for kids but not always. Desserts were amazing. ‘Regulars’ seemed to know to ask for off-menu items—yogurt and fruit. Lots tondo on the grounds—kayaks and paddleboards, beach, tennis, shuffleboard. Lectures in the evening (or movie night on weekends). But, everything else closed at 5. Post dinner beach walk? Closed. Sunset shuffleboard? Sorry. We requested equipment but were denied. We were constantly wondering if we were missing something. All in all, we bad a good time and connected as a family.

I was there for a five day workshop. My husband came along and he got to play all day. We stayed in the inn and the accommodations were good. More like a hostel than a hotel, twin beds in a small room but we did have an attached bathroom. Ate in a communal dining room . The food was mediocre to poor. They always had a salad bar and vegetarian option which worked for me but my husband really did not like the food. Our workshop space was not air conditioned and it was very hot. My husband enjoyed the waterfront activities, sailing, kayaking and canoeing and archery. In the evening there were concerts by classical and folk musicians. It is like summer camp for families. Lots to do in a beautiful setting. Wifi and cell phone service were poor.

Large clean and wonderful family place. Just took a tour of the property with Kathryn Robinson. She was informative and patient. Looking forward to convincing the rest of the clan that this is the place for us!!! Will come back and review again if we book here and let you know how true to their words they are. They are bright and eager to please so I am hopeful that it will be a great stay!!!

Been coming here every year for eighteen years and love it for what it is. Cell service put in about three years ago, and WiFi improved. The William Boyd center is very nice, meals have gotten better, and things have been getting updated yearly. We love that our kids are safe and have fun here.
