For context I have visit my parents every 6-9 months. I have a fondness as I recall the bakery and the previous owners some 35+ years ago. I live on the other coast so my bar for coffee is different. Skaneateles Bakery makes decent to good americanos. Better than the typical cup of Jo. I found baked goods okay, but nothing outstanding. That said, I feel for the staff. Completely understaffed and overwhelmed by foot traffic and take outs. I was told 15 minutes to get an americano this morning — not staff fault, it’s obvious they just are not set up to handle the influx of orders. Good wifi and comfortable to work from, albeit they are not really setup for nomad workers. On a few occasions the same young server just walked away from me for a few minutes before an other coworker had to finally step to take my order. Either they are overworked, or it may be that that particular server doesn’t like a liberal AF cowboy, dunno. Overall, decent bakery and coffee. Check out Blue Cafe in Syracuse if you are looking for sublime drinks. This place scratches an itch if you have the time (a lot of time sometimes) and are wearing the right clothes. I would have given this place a 1 or 2 due to the multiple encounters with a single staff member, but for the sake of others who stand out as professionals I am opting for a 3.
This was a very busy place on the Sunday morning we visited - a line out the door is a clear vote of approval from the locals. We tried a variety of bakery treats (scone and doughnut were our favorites - with the croissant, bear claw and biscotti getting only a "very good" rating!) We took our goodies and sat on a bench by the lake and watched the town and lake wake up. This adorable bakery producing terrific treats only added to the charm of Skaneateles!
Enjoyed a delicious cup of iced coffee and breakfast sandwich. Quaint shop with such a lovely atmosphere. Looking forward to our next return.
The baked goods and the sandwiches are delicious with lots of good choices. There was a line both times we visited, and it was obvious why when we tasted our food. We went for coffee one day, and lunch another day. The sandwiches were gigantic and delicious, especially because of the Italian bread they were served on. I had the chickpea salad sandwich which was such a treat because it's rare to find vegetarian sandwiches at a restaurant other than grilled cheese. Definitely worth a stop for coffee or a sandwich, even if there is a bit of a wait.
Would be so great to get toast that is not burnt! Consistently burnt! Not sure why I go back. Love the doughnuts but not sure if sanintary.
It was recommended to me that I stop at Skaneateles Bakery while I was in that area during my travels. I got a coffee and a pastry and they were both delicious. I also ask for any recommendations on what I should see while I was in the area. I was told about Carpenter falls which did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly and very responsive to all their patrons.

Best doughnuts ever… made fresh right in the window. Beautiful selection of additional goodies to tempt you as you’re making your way to the register. We got the flavors plain, cinnamon sugar, and limited edition apple cider glaze.
These photos were taken in August 2024. Definitely going again!

Searched for a cappuccino in Skaneateles and fell in love with this bakery. Best blueberry scone EVER and absolutely loved my husband’s chili spiced mocha latte. My latte was excellent too. Going back tomorrow!!!

The soup of the day was butternut squash soup. It came out hot and delicious. We were just stopping in to view the menu and see the setup. It was a cozy place to sit and eat. Gluten free and vegan options. Can’t wait to go back and stay for lunch. Always a takeout line. Very busy.
