We walked in at 4:30 and there were only 4 people at the bar and the waiter refused to seat us unless we sat at the bar with a baby because they had 3 reservations at 5:30. Very silly. ??

I've been obsessed with this place since I started going to their Colonie location over 10 years ago. I've always suggested Garden Bistro to friends and family because I truly believe it is the best cuisine in the area, and certainly better than anything I've ever had for under $100 a plate. The chef's ability to turn vegetables and farm fresh into something delicious is unmatched.

Now, I still believe that, but I've had a trend of below average service that makes me question coming back. I usually justify it in small ways "I came without a reservation", "There's no one else here, but they're probably preparing for a busy dinner service later", "I haven't seen this server before so they're probably new", etc. My last visit finally broke me though. I went after a long day because I know the food will always cheer me up, but the service just made me feel worse about myself. I could give no excuses this time because the table next to me received supreme service. They were greated and presented bread and water right as they sat down, three different servers came to ask how their meal was, and they all said goodbye to them as they left.

I'm sure they're probably someone that's special to that restaurant, whether a regular, donor, or parent, but it made me realize the staff had the ability to give good service and I wasn't receiving it. I'm not asking to be treated like that, but if I could receive one third of the same service they did, I'd be content. It makes me sad, but I think it's time for me to stop coming in as often and find a new favorite restaurant.

I really love this restaurant. All the food is delicious and you can tell the chef really cares about seasoning, his food and making it the best he can. The soups… Ohhhhh the soups!!!!! So amazing. I’m not sure what my favorite has been over the last couple months. The chicken quinoa was lite and lemony with fresh veggies including asparagus, yum…. The potato leek was the perfect texture, creamy but not too creamy with little crunchy peices of bacon ( I licked my bowl). And today I tried the red pepper bisque, I don’t even like bell peppers that much but I knew if I tried his soup he might convert me and it was a success. The tarragon pesto and lemon cream, sealed the deal. I just wanted to write a review to give kudos to the chef and restaurant and staff. Great work keep it up and we will definitely be back for more of those Ruby cocktails!!!

This is the place to be during the summer. Sit on the patio and have a plate of mussels along with a nice bottle of your favorite rosé or Bordeaux. The landscaping blocks the view of the traffic so it is very pretty here.

Brie our server was excellent. Great personality and good grasp of the menu. The food was delicious and served in a timely fashion. The apple turnovers for dessert were scrumptious.

I’m gluten free with several other food allergies. Even though the menu is small I always have several choices. They are very careful about ensuring I’m safe eating there. The food is delicious, everything is so fresh & the service excellent. The prices are very fair for the quality & quantity of the meal.

Food took a long time to come. The salmon was delicious, but the vegetables were bland and lacked any flavor.Servers appeared to be spaced out.

We had an excellent meal. This is a farm to table resturant. With locally sourced ingredients. A bot more expensive than others bit worth the price.

Dietary restrictions: My wife cannot eat garlic and they accomidated her very well.

We have been going to Garden Bistro 24 in Slingerlands since they opened. The food is consistently great (crab cakes, flat iron steak, the blackened chicken always cooked to perfection), staff consistently friendly, attentive, and helpfu; and always farm fresh, seasonal options for vegetables. Homemade salad dressings and butters that are amazing. I feel spoiled when we go here and hope this place is around for a long time. Our favorite place!

Vegetarian options: I love vegetables and they always have plenty of options and seasonal favorites.
