The Inn at Speculator is a charming, cozy spot that truly captures the Adirondack atmosphere. We were in town visiting my fiancée’s nephew, who was lodging with a local family, and this inn made our stay incredibly comfortable and welcoming.
The highlight is definitely the food. The chef/owner is a CIA-trained (Culinary Institute of America) chef, and you can taste the difference in every dish—well-executed, flavourful, and generous portions. The fact that the place is run by him and his family gives it an extra warm, personal touch that you don’t get in bigger, more commercial hotels.
The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable, and the overall vibe is relaxed and friendly. It felt like a perfect base for visiting family and exploring the area.
Highly recommend The Inn at Speculator to anyone visiting—whether for family, outdoor activities, or just a peaceful escape.
We ate in the dining room. Service was good, the food not that great.
Waited on immediately, service was perfect.I'm a suckered for tongue and groove knotty pine. The one thing I would change is the orange cheese...yellow only and just a bit more melt to it but it was delicious. Thank you.
We loved our impromptu stay while traveling through Adirondack State Park. Staf was fantastic.
Service was good, the company was better. Everyone was very friendly. Dinner was good
Service was ok, food was good.
We just ate here and the food was delicious! With it being Labor Day weekend we made sure to make a reservation for our large party of 10. The staff was super friendly and nice. Our food was so good too! Thank you!
Just ate here and we had a delicious meal! With it being Labor Day weekend we knew it might be crowded. We were able to call ahead and make a reservation. They were able to accommodate our large group of 10. The food was delicious. They were very sweet and we will be back again!
This is a review of the restaurant. The atmosphere was good. The service was good. The caesar salad was good. The quality of steak was terrible. Out of a 14 oz. steak maybe there was 6 oz. of eatable meat, the rest was fat and grizzle. The brandy cream sauce was very good. I wanted to give 5 stars but can't for this quality of steak priced at $38. The chef should not have let this steak leave his kitchen. Some grizzle in a steak is not visible, but most of this would have been. I will go back here because the menu looked great, but I won't order steak again. I really should have given 3 stars, but I'm hoping this was a one off.
2nd Review. Had the steak and cheese, it was fantastic, super big portion, super high quality meat. Sat in the bar, extremely friendly service. Upgrading my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Will certainly be back.
Went here while in town for the 4th Annual Southern Adirondack Hamfest. A group of us got together for dinner and drinks. We met at the Bar for a couple of drinks. The bartender was pleasant, and we were served quickly. He was pretty busy, but he made sure we were taken care of.
The restaurant was moderately busy, and we had about a 5-minute wait while they got our table ready. The place was nice and clean. The waitress was very nice, and she quickly took our drink orders and, was back in a flash with our drinks and took our orders. Most of us ordered the specials and while it took a bit longer than usual to get our orders, the food was very good.
Everyone was very pleasant and nice. I look forward to stopping in again for another meal.

We had a party of 11 and everyone enjoyed their meal!
The service was great and they accommodated our very large group. (We did make a reservations ahead of time.) The Cobb salad was excellent. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi and did not enjoy it. The rest of us enjoyed our dishes, though!
Charming place cold beer and great food.batender was nice and so were the customers.would highly recommend
Waited over an hour for our food when it wasn’t even busy. Then the owner yelled at us for letting the kids play pool at their table while being supervised. Horribly unprofessional and rude.
My wife is in love with this quaint secluded inn. The food was good and the staff/owners were incredibly friendly. Unfortunately we were only passing through on a long drive but we are very tempted to go back to this out of the way haven for an extended stay.
