We had yet another wonderful dinner with friends. We loved our gravlax, beet salad and paella and for dessert shared the pear tarte tatin again. Service was perfect, the prices fair and our friends loved their choices of scallops and short ribs. We'll be back soon!

Great restaurant in Staatsburg. Walked to it from airbnb. Menu was well done. Competent wine offerings. Enjoyed the food as served. Recommend a visit with reservations.

River and Post is a small hidden secret nestled in the town of Staatsburg. With a deceptively quiet exterior, and an eclectic vibe, this place has to be on your radar. Drinks are strong. Get the short rib and artichokes. You won’t be disappointed.

menu looked interesting and a beautiful space. the extremely friendly owner noticed after about twenty that we had not been waited on yet. our friend and I ordered pot pies. I thought interesting choice for an upscale restaurant. my wife ordered schnitzel and his wife ordered salmon. we both agreed the pot pies were so bland tasting that you could better at the grocery store. the schnitzel more resembled a fried pork chop. schnitzel should be pounded thin. it was also bland tasting. maybe the chef has not heard of this new thing called salt. my friends wife really enjoyed her salmon, until she got to taste it a second time on the way up during the night. my wife's leftovers were tossed out. our super friendly host brought her another pork chop to bring home. very nice. we were impressed with that. our waitress forgot to bring our dessert, which only had to be taken from the fridge and plated. my wife's tea was ice cold by the time we got her attention. this had been an issue the entire night. the place was also extremely hot. my friend, who has Parkinson's got over heated and took a stroll to cool off. two different staff members accused him of having had too much to drink as he came back to our table. maybe we were just the unlucky table for that night. the ambiance was nice and the food was beautifully plated. I probably would have given them another chance, if not for the way my friend was treated.

Four of us ate there last night and all agreed it was one of the best meals we ever had! Two ordered short ribs, one boulibaisse and one salmon. It doesn't look like much in the outside, but is warm and cozy inside. Staff is friendly and accommodating. We've been there for drinks as well. Great choices and great staff! You can't go wrong here.Parking: It's in the small village of Staatsburg with plenty of street parking.

If you're looking for cozy yet fine dining, then this is the place to be! It was nice to dine out at a restaurant with a diverse menu of culinary cuisine. The food was outstanding and so was the service.

Excellent food, great service, fair prices for what your getting. One of the best bar menus attached to a restaurant. The inside felt cozy, but there was a little bit of dust on some of the nooks and crannies on the walls. This is still one of the best restaurants around, this is an easy thing to fix for a near perfect experience.

Can’t recommend highly enough! We arrived without a reservation and thirty minutes before they closed and were treating like the most important guests in their charming restaurant. The hostess was charming, the waiter funny and knowledgeable and the food was superb.
