Food is ok. The staff needs to be replaced. Went in today and sat at a table for ten minutes while the staff took care of everyone else that came in after me, so I walked out.
Sadly our time at Eddies has come to an end. I have been a patron for over 25 years. My husband since he was a baby, 68 years. Growing up, his mother used to buy so many pies every summer that Fifi would give her 2 free pies at the end of every season as a thank you. That is what loyal customers my husband’s family have been. The last few years have not been the same quality of food and service but today was the end for us. I ordered the chicken and biscuits my husband the hot covered roast beef sandwich dinner. He has probably had this dinner 100 times in his lifetime. It was taking a long time but we had nowhere to be so we weren’t upset. But then I said to my husband I think they have forgotten our salads. Sure enough 2 waitresses bring our dinners over. One waitress carrying a small dish of corn and I could see a long blonde hair hanging from it. She spotted it too. Pulled it out and still proceeded to set corn down on the table. They set my husband’s dinner down and there was hardly any gravy on the sandwhich. The waitress states we ran out of gravy but they are making more. My husband did ask for a side of extra gravy when he ordered because he likes to dip his fries in the gravy instead of being covered. The little bit of gravy on the sandwhich had water running out of it. I then said we never got our salads. They went to get those but then we had everything all at once to eat. It became overwhelming instead of enjoyable. Still no gravy and my husband basically eating a dry covered sandwhich. The gravy does eventually come out. Very thin and watery. Keep in mind, there was a period for 15 years we ate at Eddies every Friday night of the summer so he knows the gravy is usually thick. The French fries were waaayyy over done. The chicken and biscuits were good. Bill comes. $50.27 and had nerve to charge for extra little bowl of gravy. $1.39. First time in 68 years. But the crazy thing was the waitress said there wasn’t enough gravy we are bringing more. The whole experience was so disappointing. We understand the cost of food is insane and the Restaurant has a short window for profit with a short season but you have to at least put out a good product to charge $50 for a meal for 2. I don’t think the Stewart’s heart is still in Eddie’s restaurant. It is truly the end of an era for us.
The hype wasn't even close to the real place. It was overcrowded, not clean looking, and the food was mediocre at best. Manhattan clam chowder was nothing more than clear tomatoes, with nearly raw carrots, potatoes, and onions. No clams.

The portions were super large! The food was great and the atmosphere perfect. I hadn't been back to Sylvan Beach since I was a kid so I'm glad I went. Eddie's just sent me back down to memory lane!

I used to love going to Eddie’s, but the quality has gone down hill as price continues to go up. Service was decent. The food is high school cafeteria quality at best. I asked for extra dressing with my salad. They put so much dressing on it that it was a soup. I had to drain the small salad in another dish. The soup was thick like mashed potatoes, cold and off putting. Chicken tenders tasted freezer burnt. Mozz sticks were cold with no seasoning. We didn’t wait long for our food, which is odd considering it was cold. Tables were dirty and entire place could use a good clean. Everyone felt sick after.

We had a great lunch at Eddies . Most of us had the famous hot ham sandwiches. We were seated quickly. We have been going to Eddies since we were kids. My family owned a camp on the lake when we were growing up. We always think of our parents when we go to Eddies.

We just stopped for ice cream. I used to stop for ice cream from the early '50's with my mother and grandparents when we would go North to groom our family burial plot and when done we would drive back to the Cortland area. That continued until the 90s when my wife and I did the same with my mother. Today, I took my daughter and two grandchildren. It was still the most delicious ice cream I can remember.
