Staff was nice and efficient. Food was old, cold, and flavorless.
I stopped by Ling Ling Buffet for lunch. The food was okay ,not the best, but still good for the price. It’s not expensive at all, and you get to try lots of different kinds of food. What I really liked was the customer service. The staff was super helpful and friendly.
As someone with a culinary background, I was seriously alarmed by the conditions at Ling Ling’s Buffet in North Syracuse. The food was cold, stale, and completely flavorless — it looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours with little to no temperature control. That’s not just disappointing — it’s a major food safety risk.
Worse, everyone in our group got sick after eating there. We mentioned it to the staff, and all they gave us was $10 off the bill — for a meal that could’ve landed us in the ER. No real apology. No accountability. Just a weak discount and a shrug.
If you care about your health and your money, skip Ling Ling’s. There are far better places in the area that serve fresh, safe, and actually flavorful food.
My wife and I caught wind that they reopened. I hadn't been to Ling Ling since maybe 2015. The atmosphere seems exactly the same as before. The food in the buffet was pretty good, but the best was the live cook (i believe it was mongolian style) and the service was quick and responsive.
Tasty It's fresh and fast. It's not as big as the other buffet, but tasty for buffet.
Very little selection. Food is lukewarm at best, and some items cold (broccoli). I understand possible price constraints, but the quality and quantity of the food should be passable, and it’s not anymore. In a post covid world buffets may be a thing of the past. It’s almost a hand and hand occurrence to have at least (AT LEAST) two to three constant coughing patrons in attendance. And these people are coughing into their hands. It’s a disgusting environment that’s no longer worth accepting when there are other options available (like cooking at home). I once thoroughly enjoyed this place, but I will never eat there again.
Watch your bill...they like to charge dinner price when you're there before 3 pm!! And nothing different comes out to the food buffets to justify the increase in price. One of the times we were there the guy behind the counter kept coughing and blowing his nose while he handled money & credit cards that he then handed to the customer spreading his germs everywhere. And then I saw him getting himself a drink (which means touching the ice that goes into drinks with his bare dirty hands) from the area that customers are served from as well!! There's a Chinese restaurant on every corner just about, I would avoid this one!!
Waitress and hostess was same person. Buffet in relatively small and I was never offered a refill. For over $2 a drink I should've had that option! I was never checked on. Not even asked my opinion before my check was SLAPPED on the table while I was Still Eating and told thank you with no eye contact or sincerity!! Will NOT be back!
I rarely dine with my father but when we do, this is the location I take him to. He is generally not a "buffet" person, but he just loves this restaurant. The food it always fresh and have lots of choices. He will be adventurous and try new things each time. We make nice memories and have a nice meal. Its something we share, just the two of us. We go early before the crowds or buses arrive.
Not stocked well. Too many items empty and I waited forever for restock. Ice cream at the end is the best of the three Chinese buffets.

Dear Ling Ling,The condition and cleanliness of the utensils, plates, cups and tea kettle that you offer to your guest, speaks volume of the care you put into food quality and presentation of your restaurant. I would be scared to look in your kitchen. Look at this tea kettle.
It's always been a decent buffet but I wish as I'm sure other people do as well is that the do some updating inside and outside. Looks rough on the exterior and needs a total makeover on the inside. Might draw more people in as well if it's not so rundown and dirty looking. I mean clean the windows at least!
This was a great place to go in the past and we come kind of often. Visited 8/27/22 around 715pm. No fresh sushi available, no one on hibachi grill. The sushi they had, taste like it had been there for hours. Extremely dry which made it difficult to swallow. They no longer have crab legs, but no one does bc of cost and i understand that. What i don't understand is that the food was mostly cold,& nothing new was put out, regardless of the people coming in- which was quite a few. The clams tasted like they've been soaked in salt for a week, there wasn't many, and no others were brought out. My 1 year old lives on French fries- which were close to bare, and cold- but no new ones were brought out. We came about 2 hours before closing,(to avoid this kind of experience)& had to eat the cold food that no one else wanted bc they wouldn't bring out any more. They started picking up the food a little after 8! This is after they told us they close at 9pm, and the host stand says no one can stay at the buffett for more than 2 hours. Which is perfectly fine, but we ate pretty slow,bc the food was cold, making it not very good,& we were waiting for fresh food to be brought out to the many empty, and almost empty slots. That never happened. They just left the same food there and that's what everyone had to choose from. Even though many customers came in during that hour. I would say close to 10 people after us. Then when they start picking up...they start taking the fullest trays first? Leaving even less to choose from. We actually left hungry. From a buffett! - bc there was really nothing to eat. If they want to offer to fix this for us, I would consider giving them another try..otherwise, I will no longer be a patron of theirs. This was a huge disappointment compared to our previous visits. Very frustrating experience.
Parking: Ample parking in front and side of building.
The only Mongolian grill in the area. Super fresh, cooked while you wait. Awesome!! Chinese buffet is solid but I go for the Mongolian grill.
My favorite Chinese buffet. The place compared to the ones closer to me has by far the best selection of food. From your standard Chinese buffet fare to stuff like chicken on a stick, chicken and broccoli, lo main but also chicken nuggets, Mac and cheese, buttered roasted potatoes, smiley face fries and many others. The one thing it doesn't have though is walnut chicken, but that's a small price to pay for considering how good it already is. Very good food I feel:)The service is also great. I never had a bad time here, the wait staff, the front desk people and the managers if I think I ran into them have always been chill and nice. No negative experiences not even once:)Overall it's my favorite Chinese buffet, I live outside of Syracuse and whenever my family and I visit the city for shopping, we either go here or Golden Corral. And when we do go to Ling Ling we always have a great time as this place has my dad's favorite selection of food compared to the ones in our town which have less he can eat.Very nice place! Can't wait to come again:)
