You could tell the staff was overwhelmed and stressed but you gotta keep your composure. I cooked for 10 years . I know pressure, as result of that stress I got sorry looking bagel where they threw the cream cheese on there didn't even try to distribute it evenly. You gotta make a better effort then that . You can tell they did because when I opened it I had smear the two slices together before I spread the cream cheese. Just wasn't a very good effort and that one lady her additude seemed short and dismissive. I didn't even want to go back up and bring it to there attention at that point to start a argument. It's a shame I live downtown and grab coffee at couple different places. This could have been my everyday 7 days week spot.

This place is busier than a three-legged cat burying poop on a frozen pond.

Amazing customer service!
Got a bag of their coffee and chocolate to take home to the spouse. The barista looked a little bored, but was willing to engage with me, a non coffee drinker, about what my spouse might want. He was happy with the gift.
My favorite Recess location, but Recess coffee in general is the best in Syracuse and always super cool humans serving up the beverages.
I recently discovered RECESS which is easily accessible from anywhere downtown Syracuse. The coffee is amazing and food. I was impressed with the reasonable prices
I ordered my food and coffee and was told I would be called by my name to pick up the order at the counter. After noticing they had taken too long with my order, went to the counter and turns out my food had been there the whole time and they never called my name.
Food was ok, coffee was ok…and loud rock music playing…not pleasant at all for a Saturday morning breakfast.
I love coming

The layout is super weird for me because the line area is horizontal and cramped. But it is super popular for a reason. Great central location, friendly staff and good drinks. They do nitro and cold brews and all the fancy stuff millennials love. Great place

Ordered an espresso drink and a lady came in after me. The male barista was very kind in letting her know that he could accommodate her haste because “there is no one ahead of you [her].” … Except of course this (Middle Eastern) white male.
The hatred for white males (or anyone that looks like one) by the staff was palpable. I suspect that if I had subtly disclosed my actual heritage, I would have been immediately treated with respect and kindness, as has happened dozens of times in the past with social justice activist types.
I would not recommend unless you are a fan of gender and race discrimination by the self-proclaimed “tolerant” and “inclusive”.

As a baker and well traveled foodie as well, I might have too high a standard. However, when I indulge in a pastry on occasion, I expect the pastries to be amazing. Unfortunately, here they are not done properly-they were dry and tough. They are neither tender, very flaky nor delicate and melt in your mouth. Disappointing too for the their price. Don’t expect an apology for a dry croissant missing the almond filling. They did give me another choice. They recommended a pastry that had filling to ensure it wouldn’t be dry. Sad to have to offer that when a great pastry doesn’t require that. I chose another, but Not an amazing pastry either due to the lack of expertly executed methods which yield tender and flaky results. Maybe they need to hire a good pastry chef or maybe it was a mishap in the kitchen that day. I will say, their Coffee is great.
Cute little place with excellent house-roasted and fresh-ground drip coffee. I'm not a huge fan of espresso and espresso based drinks, so having a place that has exceptional quality drip coffee is critical to me. The staff are friendly, and the food that I have had their has been freshly prepared and delicious

Inconsistent. Newest staff seem rude and bitter. They are not welcoming and lack basic customer service skills.
