We enjoyed butternut ravioli and red snapper for our entrees. Both were delicious with yummy sauces. Good service, reasonable prices.
Excellent place to go before show. The menu created for the show "Beatlejuice" was not only creative but delicious. Service was excellent - from start to finish it was a great dining experience.
Overall not a bad place before a show. Service was excellent...very nice folks. The food, while pretty good, could certainly have been considerably hotter. A bit pricey for what it is, but in certain situations, we would certainly try it again.
It was our first visit and my sister and I were there for a nice pre-theater dinner. We had a great experience! I love the concept of a pre-theater, themed menu. Although the choices were limited, the food was great. I had the best ever Short Rib dinner. Portion could have been a bit larger considering the $28 price. But the meat was tender and flavorful. Our server was wonderful and it was just a fun atmosphere.
While the last two courses were good, the first was awful, very clearly used bottle Italian dressing which at that price point is just lazy. Rough cut, uneven lettuce pieces in the couscous was odd as well, would have been better with a softer green such as arugula or baby greens. The Ricotta Gnocchi was very dense, but the flavor was good so I'll give that a pass, short rib was great. Drinks were not good, need better recipe specs for the bartender. I ordered a dirty martini and it was literally a glass of olive juice, it was not requested to be extra dirty or anything. Cosmo was alright but ratios were off on that as well. Server was very friendly, seemed a bit inexperienced, which wasn't her fault and everyone has to start somewhere, I recognize that it was a busy night. We waited 15-20 minutes to be greeted which was partially our fault for being a bit late but could have been solved with a quick table touch saying someone would be right with us. Over all, do I need to go back? Not really.
Our meal was seasoned very well. Some of it was cooked perfectly, most was a bit overcooked. Our server was personable and pleasant. The live musician playing/singing that evening was fantastic. We did the prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day and spent several hours there. It was perfectly adequate but I doubt we will go back.
Food offerings were limited in both volume and taste choice. Pit of several alcohol options on their menus. Service was fast and the food rated good.
We've gone to the Tasting Room a dozen times over the last few years. Each time we've gone, we've remarked how we liked it better the time before. Last night, unfortunately it was no exception. These are folks who are obviously trying very hard. Having a reduced menu on the nights when something big is playing at the theater makes sense. However, my expectation is that what remains is the best they can offer. My salad was excellent, but my partner's soup didn't arrive until long after I finished it, and then only upon request. The bread that arrived at the table was pre-sliced, and as hard as a rock. They were out of the fish, so he ordered a flatbread which was okay. My gnocchi, on the other hand, was a mess. There was no difference in consistency between the little puffs and the sauce in terms of texture. It had obviously been overcooked, and then sat under a heat lamp. Very disappointing. If we return, it will be on a night when they have their more complete menu. I think we may have enjoyed ourselves more had we not been watching the clock (we were attending a show) and if their selection was a bit broader.
Much of the food featured on the restaurant's website was not on the menu. Most disappointing? No cheese board - in a restaurant with a wine menu longer than a CVS receipt! I was also looking forward to the sous vide chicken but they had pan roasted chicken instead. My chicken was dry and under sauced. Only about a teaspoon of sauce for a whole chicken breast. It came with a half dozen small bites of potato. I liked the decor and our party of six had a round table. The table would have been perfect for conversation except we couldn't hear one another over the live music.
Everything is good except for my he chicken. It's way over cooked for my liking. Took the juiciness out of it.

The tasting room is an adorable little place. Menu is very limited but everything we had was delicious. They had live music which was a bonus. I will definitely be going back!
We had a wonderful dinner on a Thursday evening. We were early so the restaurant was quiet. We loved everything we ate starting with the scotch and wine, the tinned fish appetizer, then the halibut and the steak frites, followed by the lemon raspberry cake and the chocolate peanut butter cake. Everything was superbly cooked and beautifully plated. Excellent service. We will definitely be back and will recommend to friends and family.
Very nice experience . Food was excellent music great. Service was good . Staff accommodated our requests . Looking forward to goin back.
The tasting room is a hidden gem! Perfect all around. We ordered off of the standard dinner menu. Not one complaint.
This is my second time eating at The Tasting Room. Before leaving the first time, I knew I would bring my family back for another meal. It is a few doors down from The Landmark Theater making it a perfect place to eat before seeing a show. (You also get street parking space early, a definite plus in that part of Syracuse.) The ambiance is wonderfully calm. And the staff is beyond welcoming. The seasonal menu means you always get to enjoy something new on return trips. The food is simple but flavorful and filling, and not overpriced for what you get. The desserts are also fantastic. It's hard to choose just one! I highly recommend The Tasting Room for anyone befor seeing a show at The Landmark or for any special occasion.
