Food was so yum and atmosphere relaxing as you're tucked in back of local bar and can chat without TV interference. Server was also the cook and a delight. We'll be back!

Steve's is a great hidden gem in Tipp Hill. It's a cash only bar and they serve great Mexican food. Drinks and food are cheap and very good. Very cozy vibe and I've always had a good meal here. The kitchen is only open Thursday and Friday starting at 6pm. Not sure if the kitchen is open on Saturdays. I also believe they are cash only but they have an ATM in the bar.

Great food, nothing compared to a Mexican restaurant in town.

I was so looking forward to having dinner here, unfortunately I was disappointed. They have very limited hours for dinner on just Friday and Saturday night so I made a reservation ahead of time (left a message on voice machine). We walked in at 5:00 on a Friday and they were not ready for us. The man setting up the tables seemed flustered and told us to wait at the bar while he got things ready. This is an old fashioned bar with regulars and Pabst blue ribbon type beers. I'm a craft beer person so nothing appealed to me. I asked for an old fashioned and he couldn't make that because he didn't have the ingredients! I had to settle for a hard lemonade. My girlfriend just had water and her glass was dirty. When we were told we could sit we were informed by the same man that his brother the cook was not there and he would do his best to cook us dinner (that is a first for me). He said he only had 3 enchilada shells left so if we wanted that we better order that now. We both had enchiladas and I asked if he could put a white cheese sauce on mine. He said he would try (another first for me). Our dinners came out and my cheese sauce was all lumpy and not that appetizing. My friend said hers was ok. It sounds like we hit on a bad night here after all the other reviews but I'm not inclined to go back because Syracuse has so many excellent Mexican restaurants.

The food is scrumptious and affordable. The restaurant is very old timey and a breath of fresh air. The servers/chefs are so kind, they often engage in conversation and make you feel extremely welcome. It's a perfect place to enjoy a meal and conversation with a group of friends.

Dave (the owner)greeted us like he'd known us for years and was happy to discuss the menu. Dave was also our waiter and the cook. The menu is limited but delicious and the restaurant is clearly a labor of love. The only reason I marked "atmosphere" as 3/5 is I didn't want anyone to expect anything fancy: it's no frills, but comfortable and relaxed (for *us* that's a 5/5). In short, if you're looking for amazing food at a great price then you should check out Steve's!

Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Nice local vibe and cheap drinks. It is cash only.

Very quant and a small menu but the food is delicious and definitely has a "at home" atmosphere! Give them a try!

Me and my girlfriend had just enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the Syracuse wine festival & decided we wanted some Mexican food. Steve's seemed to have the best reviews we could find close to our side of town. Both myself and my girlfriend have locs and we're both very proud of our heritage, but from the moment we opened the door we could quite literally hear the bartender and patrons seem to shift the entire mood of the restaurant for even attempting to patronize their establishment. We were not greeted by the bartender who had a wide smile for everyone there except us, and actively avoided even making eye contact. Some coarse and inappropriate words short of the forbidden "N" were uttered by some patrons at the bar and my girlfriend and I felt it was time to go less than three minutes after awkwardly standing near the entrance waiting for a simple "hello" or "would you like a seat." Usually I don't care about rude people with a prejudice, but this needed to be spoken on so others don't have the same type of experience. Don't waste your time, wish I wouldn't have wasted mine.
