Stopped by their tent at taste of Syracuse. Best mac and cheese I’ve ever had. I cannot wait to stop by regularly at the new location
I ordered the fried chicken, fried okra and cornbread. Food was decent - I specifically asked for thighs and was glad I did because even they were on the dry side. Could use more seasoning as well. But I don't regret trying and will again in the future.
I was so excited to find a soul food restaurant by my work. I was beyond disappointed! Ordered the smothered chicken. Fried Chicken was so dry I couldn't even chew it. Mac and cheese was bland, dry and basic. Dressing and gravy tasted like a cheap box of stove top and the potatoe salad wasn't all that great either. Ended up throwing it in the trash. I feel bad giving such a horrible review but they should know the truth and try to fix it before they go out of business
The food was delicious, clean and friendly staff. Amazing family eating.
food is absolutely amazing! true soul food! everyone there is super nice!
First time here and the food was bomb. There are a number of soul food places in Syracuse (chisoul, west side soul, soullicious, miss prissy’s to name a few), and this was easily my fav on first impression!Place was clean, employees were friendly and attentive, portions were good, pricing was totally fair. I wanna go tomorrow and get my husband some.
The pork chops are better than fried chicken
This was my first time at Winnie’s. When I walked in the lady spoke which was good. I ordered just sides and no meat. I will start with the yams, they were good but they had just a little extra something to much, maybe it’s the vanilla but just be careful of how much you put in. The greens could of had a little more seasoning but they were cooked well. The Mac and cheese was good but anything that has juice should be in a different container because the collard green juice spilled into the Mac and cheese. I want this business to thrive no matter who she rent from (good luck). Over all I still gave her 4 stars. I will be back one day.
If I could give less than one I would!!! This is supposed to be smothered chicken. WHAT IN THE HELL. They hard fried the chicken then poured brown gravy over it. The greens are from a can with no additional seasoning and the rice was bag rice with can gravy WORST THING EVER! Do not waste your time!
Omg!! Sense my first order I've been almost craving the same exact meal!!: Large fish meal, with the choice of Talipi, Whitting, and or Haddock a side of Mac and cheese and cabbage! As I walked out, I started too dig in, well let's just say I can't wait until I'm back in the area for seconds, thirds, and more! The sides are ACTUALLY SIZED properly and the fish ughh my gosh? well just try it for yourself! I promise they don't dissapoint!!

Food was decent (soul food is hard to find in SYR suprisingly) but hours posted are unreliable. After trying to call for almost an hour and a half I wasted an addition 30 minutes driving to and from the restaurant only to find that they were closed in spite of Google saying they would be open for another 4 hours. Simply put- the quality isn’t worth the hassle. You can cook the dishes better yourself with youtube tutorials. ?
Was walking by smelt it had me turn right back around! My girlfriend loves the cabbage the greens were on point for myself and that chicken! Oh ma'am you have for sure returns with us! I was missing my Louisiana food feeling and that was home to me you nailed it! THANK YOU THANK YOU!
We were stopping in Syracuse on our way to the Adirondacks and stopped at this gem. The sweetest woman runs this in honor of her mother. The whole family working together to make delicious fried chicken and okra. Great experience. Would definitely go again.
What I Loved about Winnie's is the food has real soul when they call it soul food she put her foot in it twice. I now have a real soul food restaurant that me and my family will eat at as long as there around please continue what you do cause the hospitality is awesome. Thank You for the real soul food.
Local family owns the place and has distinguished itself as the soul food restaurant not Syracuse University Hill because of the lack of competition you might think it was dry bland or something but no just the opposite. Mac and cheese is good and fish is good. Highly recommended.
