The Bear Mountain Inn is a charming, early 1900's hotel with beautifully kept grounds and stunning views of the nearby lake, Hudson River, and surrounding mountains. The property features a zoo with local animals and offers plenty of activities year-round for families. Visitors can enjoy a meal or a beer at the on-site bar and restaurant, although portions may be small and prices steep. The lodge-style rooms, complete with fireplaces, provide a cozy atmosphere for a relaxing mountain getaway, with proximity to West Point and numerous trails.
The rooms are very adequate and quite clean, with comfortable beds. However, some guests have experienced issues with the air conditioning, unable to control the temperature. The staff at the Bear Mountain Inn are very receptive and friendly, though, and work to resolve any problems that arise. Overall, the facilities are lovely, and the food, including the delicious main meals and cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres, is a highlight for many guests. The inn is an ideal destination for a relaxing mountain getaway.
