So sad to see such a wonderful business turn away from Union Springs, I wish you luck in your future endeavors. ✨ I'll miss your banana pudding. We hope to see you back soon!
The chef has got “it”. If you want to catch a great meal with a chef on top of his game, go.

Salt of the Earth has quickly become my favorite restaurant, dare I say it, ever. We moved here last year and tried SOTE for the first time last fall. Since then, we have gone to multiple stunning wine dinners and just to eat a handful of times as well. I cannot do them justice, so hopefully these pictures at least start to tell the story. SOTE is a more than adequate replacement for all of the fancy, big city dining options we had in our previous home. The culture makes it a thousand times better because you can tell the staff is genuine and passionate. Thank you SOTE for choosing Union Springs!*I highly suggest the burrata to mozzarella lovers. SOTE also helped me find my all time favorite cheese ever (mimolette) and I had the best duck ever back in October. Culinary genius is the only phrase that applies.*
Dietary restrictions: They are very flexible and understanding.

Although the website states it is wheelchair accessible it definitely is not. Food was extremely hot, but better than not hot. Shrimp and grits tasted great but seemed to be a small serving. Beef Wellington with glazed carrots was a delicious meal although cleverly cut carrots were difficult to eat without cutting with a steak knife. Staff was responsive, friendly and helpful. Hoping this restaurant succeeds. They do a brisk take out business. Menu is fresh and changes daily.
Parking: Parking on the street or in bank parking lot across the street but not convenient for handicapped.
Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely not wheelchair accessible at all. Using a Walker or cane would be very, very difficult. No hand railing. Very high step to get in and a single door entry.

Best meal of the trip! We were staying at one of the Aurora Inns but we weren't really happy with any of the meals we had in Aurora. They own them are and have a monopoly on the restaurants in town. So we ventured 10 miles up to Salt of the Earth. It was a really enjoyable meal. The little tavern like restaurant is small so be sure to ask for a reservation ahead of time. We loved our server, Faith. Ask for her. Every dish was delicious. We shared the puffed croquettes, lamb empanadas, French onion soup, and their steak au poivre with brandy cream sauce. Voila‼️‼️ It was as good as what we had at Jean Georges in Paris. Seriously! Oh, and the prices were very, very reasonable. Treat yourself on a visit to McKenzie Childs which is only 10 miles down the road. Don't forget to ask for Faith!
The chicken and waffles are so so yummy!

Fantastic dining experience. Lamb empanada was best I've ever had. Steak had a grizzle on it that I am still thinking about. Michelin level food at reasonable prices. Menu has food for everyone and save room for dessert. Great wine list and beer selection. Cool spot. Highly recommend

I visited this restaurant due to knowing the owner/chef. I had no idea what to expect, save for great food. My expectations were blown away for food, drinks, atmosphere, and service! Mike and Nancy have a very special thing going on here. They are gracious, so customer focused , and truly embracing the farm to table experience and highlighting the best their region has to offer. If you are in the area, you must go!
This is a family run, top notch, truly gourmet, just the loveliest establishment. Chef Mike is fantastic and Nancy goes above and beyond. The cod was perfect, the scallops and shrimp delicious. The wine selection is also fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about this gem in the finger lakes, my family had the most delicious dinner for all ages. Thank you so much to a team that puts so much love into their craft. We will be back!

Very small portion size. A $27 steak should be larger than a deck of cards. Fries were not fresh. Parking is good and easy. Good beer selection but all in cans. Good for 2 or 4 people.
Well worth the stop in this small village in upstate New York. The food is amazing. From the corn soup to the potato croquettes everything was terrific . The greens are purchased from a local farm. So fresh, drizzled with the best olive oil and a balsamic reduction. Don't leave without having the lemon tart. An excellent food experience. Incredible staff as well. My compliments to Chef Michael Boise.
