NEW MANAGEMENT!! I’ve been coming here all my life 20 plus years. They are under NEW management and the food is unseasoned rice 😞was bland and soggy 😖very little pork no this new management is terrible the prices is now entirely high 😳 I have to find a new restaurant all together. The lady used to just know I’m regular now they don’t even know me 👎. This breaks my heart so bad. 💔 Was put on hold for 5 mins and forgot about ⏳ and hung up. I’m so hurt this new management is so sad 💔💔 my order was wrong on chicken wings and pork fried rice with hot sauce and bbq sauce I just can’t explain how hurt I am. I’m writing this so everyone is aware of new management. My sister is feeding the food to the cats 🐈 because I can’t even eat 😞. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!
The chef and his team cooking up great tasting food. No issues there. Food smells and tastes freshly made. Grew up on Brooklyn, NY chinese food myself… rib tips and French fries kinda MF’er. I digress…
The front of house needs some work. Taking and getting orders is a little rough. Make sure the bag you’re handed is the food you ordered. But like I said… it’s gonna taste like it was carefully prepared.
They cleaned up the interior, and removed the prison window. So… say hello, order with patience, pay them their money… and enjoy that Fortune Cookie!

My family had been eating in this restaurant for maybe 2 or 1 year(s). But, we had stopped eating there for the past months. The reason why we had stopped was for a few reasons. One, when my family brought food, my mother had the fried shrimp. She had said it smelled like something worse than it was supposed to be like. Second, I once got food poisoning just because I had eaten their food. Third and the last reason was because when my father was trying to order, he had said, "Do you speak Spanish?" And the woman who works(ed?) there said, "Do I look like I speak Spanish? You have to learn English since this is American." Which of course offended my father, so which is why we don't eat there. There are so many Chinese restaurants where they have nicer workers than the workers in this restaurant.

I’ve been coming here off and on for years. After they changed owners….i haven’t had the best experience. First call I made I got hung up one. I called back and it was someone different that answered. Now I initially stopped coming because of the food quality. Why they sell winget size wings and overcharge for them are beyond me.and the wings were loaded with feathers!
My boneless ribs container was half full. I called after reaching home and complained and was put on hold. I eventually hung up. I’ll solve by just not returning.

My wife and I lived in Queens for 8 years and only ate excellent Chinese food. When we moved to Merrick, the Grubhub options were all terrible and the few Chinese places were absolute garbage. We heard about Fortune Cookie and I had to stop eating just to write this review. My faith in Chinese food on Long Island has been fully restored. The sesame chicken is cooked perfectly with the sauce and the fried rice is so flavorful. Even the egg roll was fantastic! This will forever be our go to place. Thank you for existing.

Before I get to the point, let me provide an understanding of where I’m coming from. I’ve been eating from Fortune Cookie since 2003 when Steve was the owner. As of yet, I haven’t found a better tasting Chinese food restaurant, but it’s far from being the cleanest nor the healthiest ( I don’t eat Chinese food for health reasons anyway, it’s more of a guilty pleasure type of thing). Fast forward, since Steve left, the service has bottomed out. First, I found a cockroach in my food which they were aware of. I forgave them but kept a close eye out for any future shenanigans. Second, for the past year or so, the owners has developed the worst attitude I’ve ever seen. She makes rude comments towards her clients, including myself. I’ve watched her disrespect a Hispanic customer who was having difficulties expressing himself in English by telling him that this an English speaking country (I don’t know why you come here expecting people to speak Spanish). Some of us customers who speak Spanish ended up helping the guy. Today was the last straw for me after I arrived to pay for the food I ordered on the phone and was spoken to disparagingly for arriving too early. Her employee told me that she was having a bad day and to forgive her, but this has gone for far too long and I won’t go back there. I will also discourage my colleagues, friends and family from going there because they can find greasy food anywhere. Good luck to the new owners, bye ?.
