The Kitchen Buffet at Vernon Downs

I recently visited the Vernon Downs buffet with my family, where we waited in line for 45 minutes due to their high volume of customers. I politely asked a lady if she could arrange for our table to be bussed. I was courteous and used gestures while speaking, as is my customary manner. However, she responded rudely, slamming her bucket of dishes onto the table. I repeated my request and asked for her name, which she provided as Elizabeth³ behavior displayed by Elizabeth, and I would advise others to exercise caution when visiting this establishment.

Went here while in town for an event at Utica Rome speedway. It was Tuesday so the buffet was only $7. Great...not so great. Do yourself a favor, go to the store with your $7, buy a pepsi and a hungry man tv dinner. Much better than the 'food' on this buffet. To top it off there was a 20 minute line to get in. Unbelievable. Im never this harsh in any reviews but in my 38 years on earth, this is the worst restaraunt I have ever been to.... our server was great. 5 stars for her

I took my wife for her birthday dinner and she was satisfied. The porkchops were very juicy and tender and the prime rib was good to. The coconut shrimp was good the brussel sprouts were good the macaroni and cheese was good and the sugar-free cheesecake was good. The waitress was very nice and paid attention to us. We will definitely go back.

Food was very nasty and only had four things on line and all was cold. The only good thing there was the soft serve ice cream. Will not be going back there ever again waste of time and gas…

9/2/2024-Service by Kayla EXCELLENT ***** as usual. Despite always being short handed, Kayla as normal for her, she gave each of our party of 7 hr personal attention.
Kayla is one of the main reasons a brought these new patrons to Vernon.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
The restaurant was extremely busy and extremely short handed.
In my opinion Kayla is a MVP for the Vernon Buffet and hopefully gets treated that way.
The Buffet badly needs more like her and someone to clear tables again.

At times there were lots of un cleared tables with mobs of people coming in with no place to sit.
Also the great cashier that was there for a long time was not there and the one cashier cannot possibly keep up with the lines.

Good people leave when working conditions are terrible like here and don't improve.

The buffet is improved but is losing business because of above.
Just telling it as it is and hopefully is taken constructively.
Food has improved again.

Went to the mother's day buffet. When we got there we had to make reservations. So we did so we went to the bar then went and played the slot machines till are reservation time came up so we went back to the buffet and we still had to wait in line even though we had reservations which made no sense. And the food was not all that good it was cold and they did not have such a big selection neither and the dessert was not all that great neither. Definitely will not go back there.Well I am going to go back to the Kitchen Buffet for the memorial day buffet. Hopefully it is better than the mother's day buffet. Well least you don't have to make a reservation this time. I called ahead of time. ?Well the memorial day buffet was delicious! ?They had everything that you would have at a cookout and ect item's.

I can’t even give it One star for the food We were told reservations were up till four. We made it at 3:30 and when we got there, there wasn’t a lot of food left and we were told they weren’t going anymore because they didn’t wanna waste it everything was cold pancakes were hard even with a knife and one of the gentlemen actually made a pass at my daughter 17 years old he must of been in his 30s. This is one of the most disgusting places to eat and for the price each one of us got one plate and none of us enjoyed it. I do not recommend this place at all. And being Mother’s Day I would’ve expected better

Again I had the pleasure of going to the Buffet again today at Vernon Downs i’m still impressed with how they’ve cleaned it up and brought their menu up. Food was delicious as always and I had the opportunity to taste a couple of new things one the raspberry vinaigrette or was it strawberry delicious no matter white and a new rice absolutely scrumptious my hats are off to the chef and to the wonderful waitresses. Everybody is just so pleasant there. I look forward to my next visit again I think it’s.awesome a good bang for your buck

We tried your buffet last night, and I honestly can say that I was not impressed. No mashed potatoes, No mac and cheese, no cheesecakes. Which I was told were staple items they always have.The food was alao not very hot. There also was not much for a kid friendly meal either. I did see the grill on but nothing was being cooked on it. I will, however, say that your staff was very polite and friendly even when it was pretty busy.

Been coming to hotel and buffet for 15+ years. Everything is getting tastier. The waitresses are excellent. Keep up the good

They didnt have alot of salad options and the service was terrible. Not alot of choices. Hamburger buns were hard. No lettuce tomato or onion or pickles for burger. I was very disappointed.

I was hesitant to pay $20 for the buffet after reading the reviews… luckily they are doing $5 Tuesday Buffet (Fall 2023) and for $5 there is literally no way to be disappointed! Had a great 4pm meal and was full until lunch the next day.

I highly recommend this buffet! Not only was the service amazing but the food was too... Chef Nick has done it! You struck gold when you hired chef Nick Vernon downs!
