Delicious food and drinks! Their avocado toast is my favorite along with some of their seasonal drinks. They also have a gluten free brownie which is amazing!
There is really no place like Drifter, just as there is no one exactly like the singular Tara who runs it. This is a place where nearly every part of every meal has been handmade and specially prepared in advance by the owner, whose passion for and erudition about food, especially of the fermented kind, infuses every ingredient with meaningful content, flavorful nuance, and nutritional richness. Tara is the author and illustrator of a book, Fermentation on Wheels, based on her experience teaching about fermentation from a bus she lived in across the country. Tara cares deeply about sustainability, local agriculture, the nutritional properties of food, and the complex interplay of quality ingredients with the human biome. I never really liked tempeh much before eating here; now I have to eat one of Tara's tempeh sandwiches off the sourdough bread she bakes fresh every morning with her fermented ingredients on it nearly every week I can. Her miso ginger chocolate chip cookies and new brownies are a treat. Drifter also offers the only pour-over cup of coffee in town and a variety of delicious warm drinks; the coffee and these are other drinks are always robust and satisfying. In addition to all the delicious, nutritious things there are to eat and drink in the cafe, Drifter is a store where you can purchase Tara's fresh ferments, high-quality can foods, kombucha, local sheep yogurt, handmade soaps, coffee beans, small batch oatmeal, and a number of other provisions sourced and selected by Tara with a curatorial eye for excellence. Everyone else who I've ever encountered working there is very friendly and extremely capable. Drifter is a very small place with usually one, sometimes two people working it, creating everything from scratch. This is slow food and and it may take some time to get what you ordered, but it is always worth the wait and it's likely you'll meet interesting, somewhat like-minded people and have a nice conversation while waiting.
Such a unique and healthy place to eat! Everything that we tried was delicious, and it’s the kind of food that leaves you feeling good! The BBQ Tempeh sandwich was bursting with flavor, and the chocolate chip cookies were the perfect amount of sweet! My Minty Matcha latte was also a great choice. Love the creativity of their menu!
As a holistic nutrition specialist for 20 years there are few places I can eat and know that I am eating truly healthy. There is no where else nearby that offers handmade, all organic, nourishing Whole Foods. My sons and I absolutely love our weekly visits. Tara is a gem and the entire staff are kind and dedicated. An absolute MUST for any foodie and health enthusiast!
Vegetarian options: Best in town!
Dietary restrictions: Epic homemade gluten free bread options! Plus her homemade slow fermented sourdough bread for those with mild gluten allergies.

I initially came for the sourdough bread which came highly recommended. Since then I’m getting my loaf every weekend if possible. It’s a treat for the whole family. Since then I tried other fermented products which are all delicious as well. The kimchi and the goat milk yogurt are my favorites. You need to visit this gem if you live in the area or are passing through

Delicious lattes, exquisite bites. In house baked goods are the best in Warwick and the hand crafted fermented foods are definitely a must try. I ended up buying some to take home and I will return for more. Vegan options. Unique little gem in the village.

I had such a delicious meal here! Best tempeh I've ever had in an absolutely wonderful salad- great balance of flavors and textures and so healthy. Blueberry kombucha was refreshing and perfectly balanced. Tara the owner is really lovely and puts so much care into everything she makes. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Some places are just unique. My wife and I are extremely happy to have the owners creativity and extremely high standards shine in her brick and mortar space here in Warwick - rather than in Brooklyn or somewhere else similar. Both the ferments and drinks, as well as the bakes are really worth trying, as well as other seasonal items (e.g extraordinary kombucha in the summer). Looking forward to tasting more interesting creations from the talented owner.

I absolutely love this place. The matcha latte is heaven in a cup and the tempeh reuben is beyond delicious. Everything is organic & homemade. Tara & Eve are super sweet and the vibes are always on point. I would eat here every day if I could.
Food for Consciousness.I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had, what I would call, a genuine full “blown food experience.” One of those rare moments where the food you are eating completely overwhelms your senses, and you have a whole-body experience of being nourished and transformed by the combination of tastes. The world and time stand still, and one is lost in the reverie of how wonderful the food is.One of those moments has been eating a Tempeh Ruben Sandwich at Drifters Ferments in Warwick. The fact that Tara makes all the ingredients herself creates a unique and singular experience. And I keep coming back because it never disappoints.About a month ago I went to Colorado to visit a friend and we did a psilocybin (mushroom) psychedelic journey together. It was powerful and many insights occurred within the journey, one of which was that I had a direct comprehension of Tara’s skill with fermentation and why her food had had such an effect on me. I am going to try to put this into words and I am not even sure it's possible because this is super subtle stuff, but here goes:On the journey, I was seeing on an almost cellular level, the organic nature of EVERYTHING. The earth, human beings, and everything on this planet is organic and is in a constant process of exchange and transformation. I could then see Tara’s specific energy as a human being and how that supercharged the fermentation process of her food in a unique way.I had a direct appreciation of the intricate complexity, subtlety and scope of organic power that is embodied in Tara’s food. And I experienced not only how but, why, that food had affected me. It was an organic exchange of energy through food on a cellular level that had literally changed, shifted and raised my consciousness on the most subtle level. We are what we eat took on a deeper meaning and it really was food for thought! There.... not sure I captured it but I hope you will try Drifter’s yourself someday and find out for yourself.Thank you Tara.
