VERN Restaurant and Bar

Updated (original review from June 2024 below the update):

This trip (our third) was much better than the previous two. It looks like the full menu is available now even during lunch hours. The hot lobster roll remains the only one on the menu, but it is good. Oyster raw bar was good. Burger was good, cooked to the preferred temp. Still no fruit in the sangria (ordered the special pumpkin sangria) but there was ice! No live music (late season in October), but they had music playing at a reasonable level.

We'd continue to come back.

Original Review (1 Star service, 1 star atmosphere (due to music), 2 star food):
DJ brunch I guess. Music was looouuud and a crappy selection, but when we got there, seemed like the crowd was two decades older.

Anyway, before heading there I called to make sure of two things:

1. They still had transient slips as we were coming by boat
2. They had a cold Maine lobster roll as my wife had been craving one for weeks.

The answer to both was yes.

We tie up and get seated, about 1:40pm. Probably close to 10 minutes before anyone comes over to take drink orders. 2:13pm, still no drinks but Amanda comes to take our food orders, which we put in for baked clams and two lobster rolls. She asks if it's OK to put it in at the same time because it might all come out at the same time. Really? We said no.

2:24pm drinks arrive.

Sangria looks like red wine, no ice. No fruit. Apparently you have to ask for that. Bloody wasn't very good. Seemed like alcohol plus watered down tomato juice and horse radish.

2:26pm app comes out. Six of the smallest baked clams I've ever seen ($19). So 44 minutes before drinks, 46 minutes for app.

Lobster rolls arrive 15 minutes later. They were hot lobster rolls. What a disappointment.

Amanda never showed up after taking the food orders. She came when we were done with the rolls. Asked for the check, paid and left.

The old Seagull was nothing spectacular, but after this experience, it is missed ...

The food, was delicious and the service was great. The buffalo wings were delicious, my steak was cooked perfectly, and my husbands entre was equally . Everything was tasty. I will definitely be going back.

Great service, solid food, and drinks. Wafa was very attentive and made our first time here amazing. Will definitely return.

The atmosphere was fabulous. The staff was welcoming and inviting. And the food was delicious. There was nothing I was not pleased with. Even the bathroom was fresh and clean. It was a great experience. 10 out of 10 for me and my daughter.

This place has great food and a comfortable atmosphere. The downside was the male waiter Shawn F. Horrible in every way possible. I had to ask the busboy for plates and utensils. I had to ask a waitress for extra water and straws. Not once the waiter Shawn came over and ask if we needed anything. Our food wasn't even put in had to ask the hostess to help out. Even the cook came out to assist. The waiter is not trained to be a waiter. On top of that he had and attitude. At the end of the meal not once ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee. We paid our bill left him a tip and didn't even say Thank You. For this reason I will not come back even though The food was good not dealing with a waiter with no personality.

Honestly I had a reservation and tried to co tact them for hours and cant get through. Then I finally get a answer and they put me on hold. Which wasn't hold because I can hear everything. So they leave the phone off the hook so you cant get through. Rude. Never coming here.

It was a very first time trying this restaurant. The food was wonderful and the price is reasonable. The only problem I’ve. Come across was the service was not good at all we were sat down. We were served our food. Never asked if we wanted drinks when the food came. We had no utensils or napkins and while we were eating, we felt rushed and hurried because someone who made a reservation was complaining they wanted our table, so it was a first time experience and it will definitely be the last but kudos to the chef.

Very fun to eat here , the view is great , the vibe is fresh and new . Great if your boating - pull up to a slip eat and keep boating
