Dropped by yesterday for a take out sandwich. Its cute inside, well staffed. I really enjoyed my Thanksgiving sandwich, turkey, stuffing and cran mayo

We found this little treasure from a recommendation at an Air BNB. We loved that it opened early. It was a historic place in a cute little town setting. Our waitress was very nice. Prices were great. Food was excellent, and a great way to start our day!!

Have had breakfast here twice in the last month. Starting with a large mug of good, hot coffee, breakfast was great. Eggs, pancakes, bacon, buttered toast made a good meal. Caring servers and credit cards are done table side. Will continue to patronize this Whitehall gem.

So we toured around Whitehall NY, taking in the history of the waterfront and learning about the key historic aspects of Whitehall during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Amazing to consider that such intense history lives just below the surface of a seemingly-peaceful, secluded and work-a-day town like Whitehall! By all means, GO, learn and enjoy! Anyhow, we worked up a slight appetite, and from the website Historic Grounds seemed the perfect place for some historic coffee ('historic grounds', after all!!!...) - and just maybe a shared slice of something sweet. Website says open to 3pm. We were good, it was 1:50pm.... or so we thought. Upon entering we were advised the cafe closes at 2pm. so we were thus summarily rejected without any conciliatory inclination or comments. it was pointless to advise that the website said open till 3pm, and since it was only 1:50pm, technically the cafe was open and should have been taking customers. We were just looking for coffee and a slice of cake! Too bad, seemed like a lovely place. Will we return and circle around? Don't think so! But by all means, YOU go and give it a try. Just don't rely on the website for their open and reject times.... Maybe call ahead and agree in advance on what time works for them.
