El Catrin Mexican Bar & Grill - Andover

Was so excited to try the Mexican restaurant everyone had been giving 5*.We were so disappointed when we arrived and the sign on the building said Los Venados!There is a Los Venados in Orwell and it is less than impressive. It was much better when it was owned by El Torero.I was willing to give it a chance but sadly we should have chosen to go elsewhere.The food was bland and barely warm. The margarita seemed like it had no alcohol. The Spanish rice looked like minute rice dyed yellow my husband tried it but did not eat anymore after the first bite.While we were waiting for our server to return after asking for a few minutes to decide we watched another couple leave without ordering, they seemed upset. Not hard to understand why. Also witnessed a patron looking for their server so they could at least order drinks. Sad when there were several employees just standing around talking or on phones.We will not return. So sorry we missed the Good Mexican restaurant when it was where the former Scooter's by The Lake was.

Wheelchair accessibility: Very steep ramp into the front door. Not sure a wheelchair could make it in.

Wow is all I can say. We were sat and had to ask the hostess for a server3 times and 20 minute later we got one. Ordered food and drinks at the same time. Food took another 45 minutes to come out and never saw the server to get another drink order. I ordered the Fajitas and the beef and steak was tough as shoe leather. For a new restraunt in town they really fell on there face.

We came in towards close and at first they weren't going to seat us understandable but then they decided to seat us anyway we had to ask for silverware and napkins and our waiter how to be flagged down for a napkin or utensil or drink or refill they started vacuuming and moving furniture and sweeping while we were eating the only thing that would make me go back was the food so amazing over all I would go back even in the same condition

I ordered chicken fajitas.. they forgot my tortillas. My fajitas contained broccoli which I found kind of strange. I felt like I was eating Chinese food because I was eating it with a fork because they did not provide tortillas.

I was very pleased with this recently opened Mexican restaurant!! A broad menu with all your faves plus some nice twists. Esp liked the salsas, and the quality ingredients throughout!Staff were awesome, attentive, and helpful with selection.Looking forward to stopping in again on next trip to Andover!

People were very nice, food was very good, and the service was prompt. The only complaint I had was my margarita tasted like a slushy from Circle K. My advice is add more alcohol. If you need lessons how to make a margarita, I recommend going to the Mexican restaurant in Jefferson. Also, continue updating the atmosphere because that’s all part of the experience when you go to eat Mexican. Good luck with your business :)

EXCELLENT food and HUGE servings, enough for 2 meals!We are absolutely thrilled to have such a great restaurant, so close to our camp! We have been dining there every weekend, for lunch or dinner! Love it!

Really convenient to the nearby state park. Staff were amazing and my quesadilla fajita was of epic proportions!
