Probably the least allergy-friendly place I’ve been in the last five years if not ten. They’re lacking a lot of allergy best practices and basic considerations for guests; just a warning for other Inn guests who come here like we did recently. If your menu doesn’t even include the mention of nuts on things that apparently have them (which is a basic best practice), you simply cannot make your guests feel like an inconvenience if they ask about it. The service here was far below what I would expect for an exclusive club restaurant.

Typically, the response from a waiter is “I’m sorry, that has nuts, but let me suggest/we could do X instead.” At this restaurant, the answer was simply “that has nuts.” And then dead silence. That makes your guest feel completely at a loss for what to do next and like an inconvenience to you. You seriously have NOTHING you could suggest as a swap or another thing we could order? For example, the crackers in the cheese board order apparently have nuts for some reason; I had to ask and suggest other things we could eat with the cheese because the waitress did not even try to come up with a suggestion. I was also completely in disbelief that the only crackers in the entire restaurant would have nuts in them; lo and behold, she came back and had learned there WERE in fact nut-free crackers we could have. Imagine that. Similar situation with the ice cream, which was supposed to have biscotti on the side. We had no idea that there were nuts in the biscotti until she served us our ice cream and only one of ours had biscotti because she figured out it had nuts literally back in the kitchen. Like what kind of ship are we running here?

I absolutely do not appreciate being made to feel like an inconvenience for an extremely common food allergy when we scheduled this as part of our special weekend away and were literally paying to be there. It's not like we asked them to specially clean the entire kitchen before serving my food or something. We had better, more considerate service from a restaurant in town nearby the night before.

Allergies are not the same as intolerances — there are many small things you can do to create simple and straightforward considerations for guests, especially ones with very common allergies. I was just extremely surprised by this experience.

I always love the experience and food from the Barn whether we get room service or visit in person. In person however is such an incredible experience and almost a journey with each course. All of the staff are all so pleasant and Chef Austin is a master at his craft. The hospitality is unmatched. I cannot wait to come back.

We were guests at the hotel and went to dinner at The Barn. Upon arrival for what we hoped would be an amazing dinner that we were very under whelmed by the decor. Buffalo plaid and horse pics fit with the barn but not with the fine dining experience and needing a sport coat that they inform
you about when you make your reservation. The host sat us quickly but we waited almost 10 minutes before he returned and noticed no one had approached us. He got our drinks, Grey Goose martini up and one of their specialty drinks a strawberry mule, which were fine. We waited 10 more minutes for our waiter Tray, who was a super nice guy, but so new to serving that hearing the specials was painful. He left after specials and another 10 minutes passed and we ordered. The leek and potato soup was delicious, as was my husband’s wedge salad. My husband ordered the short ribs. The portion was disappointing , 5 small pieces of pork on polenta . Not all like the short ribs we have had out before. I had the bolognese and although it was good the portion was quite small. Tray had difficulty remembering water refills, coffee after with our dessert was difficult too. The cheesecake was sub par, should have maybe gone with the homemade ice cream. It was good but nothing special. We dine at nice places quite often and although this was ok, it definitely did not meet our expectations or all of the glowing reviews we read. I think service was a big part of our experience too. When we asked for our bill it was incorrect because the drinks were not on it, and of course the time to fix it and get it back was way too long. It was not super busy we were one of the last 3 tables in the place. We definitely would try again but would not push back to Walden because of the dining.

Went for 32 birthday! Wonderful experience and great service and food. Would recommend going during a weekday because it’s not as busy. This place is always booked up!

Wish they made it much more clear this is for members only. This does not show when looking through restaurants online. Wasted trip. Not against a private restaurant, can’t say I’ve heard of one, but should be made very clear.

We celebrated my husband’s 40th with a trip to Inn Walden and visited The Barn for dinner. The space was cozy, yet modern and the staff was lovely. Our server provided great recommendations and was incredibly friendly. The cocktails were delicious and we even got an amuse bouche and outstanding focaccia bread to start our lovely meal. My husband ordered the French onion soup and filet and everything was done perfectly. I got the Cesar salad and scallops and was very pleased. It was the Friday before Christmas, so the restaurant was slow, which may have given us some extra attention, but I wouldn’t have minded if service was slower as the ambiance was great and food was very worth it. We can’t wait to come back!

First time here and last. We decided to try the buffet after are drive out to the Ramsey farm fall festival. The food is very bland and dry and awful. Cold apple cobbler that looked like some on thew up on. The driest meat loaf I mean it was dryer then the bread we ate. Are waitress came to our table one time the hour we were there and another 30 min to chase down someone to get are check. $50 for 2 adults and a child I would pick McDonald's over this if your even thinking about going. Hands down the worst restaurant I have been to all year! You might wanna think about closing up shop.

Do you still need to be a member to eat there? I remember I got kicked out because my wife/ girlfriend at the time weren't members

We used to love our trips to Walden and Barn. While service is still great, which is super hard to find anywhere else, the Barn restaurant experience didn’t hit the excellence mark. Appetizers: selection is Boring. The lobster was “fishy”, the olives are boring, and the baked Brie was good Main dish: fillet was great but the peppercorn sauce was bland. Similarly, the veal was great but the sauce was bland again Deserts: macadamia nuts tart was very yummy Hopefully, the new chef will change the appetizer menu soon.

I have been here before and had Mark as a server he is very attentive and goes the extra mile asking for food allergies or preferences. I really appreciated his attention to detail and making sure what I ordered was exactly as I wanted it. The food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere is peaceful and beautiful. I’ll be back.
