Tried this restaurant while camping at wolf run state park, since it was the only one open that early on memorial day and wowzers it did not disappoint. The food was amazing. You can tell that it's all made with love. Some of the best sausage gravy that i've ever had. The turtle pie was delicious. Kathys daughter HAND DREW my daughter a minnie mouse pancake and it was PERFECT!! The prices were extremely reasonable and the quantities we're very big, Kathy is a great cook, and her daughter was the waitress and she was so sweet. We had a good conversation about the artwork that she does, their farm and her other hobbies, She was so smart especially for being so young! She's Definitely going places! God bless you all! I cant wait to come back.

Waited 34 minutes for a spaghetti dinner. Asked waitress how much longer. She said the cook said it would be a while. I left will not go back. Horrible service.

Fabulous little mom and pop place. Great service, fast, good options, and the price was great. $25 for 3 people and we left full and happy. Highly recommend.

I went at lunchtime to order the 1/4 pound hamburger. The staff was friendly and helpful. It took a little longer than expected for the meal, but the beef was fresh, the toppings were well done, and the bun was not soggy. The prices were more than fair.
The place was clean, and very inviting.
A great place for a good meal should you find yourself in Caldwell.

Disappointing Return — We Won’t Be Back
This used to be one of our regular spots, but after returning recently, it’s clear the place has gone downhill — and unfortunately, we won’t be back.
The cleanliness was the biggest red flag. The ladies’ restroom was dirty, and the trash can in there was absolutely disgusting. It obviously hadn’t been replaced or even cleaned in a very long time. In the front dining area, the walls are visibly grimy — you can clearly see where tables had previously been placed, outlined by layers of grease and dirt. The window next to our table was covered in filth and old tape that hadn’t been properly removed.
While waiting for our food, I killed six large flies near the window, because we were sitting right next to it— and other diners actually started cheering me on. That alone should speak volumes about the dining environment. If I were the owner or even an employee, I would have been mortified. Instead, it was treated as a joke.
The menus were sticky and unclean. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, which makes the lack of cleanliness even more disappointing. When things are slow, there’s plenty of opportunity for the staff to focus on basic upkeep — wiping down menus, scrubbing walls, and tending to obvious issues.
Our meal (an omelet, two eggs, and home fries with gravy) took 40 minutes to arrive. When we finally asked about the delay, the server told us the cook had to remake it because it burned when butter was used instead of oil. We were patient, but we should have been informed during the wait — with a simple explanation and an apology — instead of having to ask.
And after seeing how dirty the dining area was, I honestly dread to think what the kitchen might look like.
I originally wanted to send a private message to share this feedback, but I couldn’t find a Facebook page. I’m posting this review publicly because there is simply no excuse for a restaurant to be in this condition — especially when the fixes are so simple and inexpensive.
It’s not about money — it’s about pride and care. A fresh coat of paint, new trash bins, and regular cleaning could completely change the experience here. Until those things happen, we won’t be back.
I want to add that our server was pleasantly and friendly. We certainly didn’t take our frustration out on her and her tip didn’t reflect our disgust with the venue.

Food was great. The wait time was horrible, 11:15 arrival ordered breakfast food, waited an hour! Place was nearly empty. The bathroom had no cold water so I burned my hands trying to get the soap off
Great food and fast service
Excellent place to eat, friendly owners and staff.
Biscuits and gravy was great!

I can’t say enough great things about Kathy’s Kitchen! Michael has created the perfect spot for locals to gather and for travelers to enjoy a comforting, home-style meal. The Breakfast Mess is my go-to—it’s always delicious! Sundays are a real treat here, and the staff is truly the best. Be sure to treat the staff with kindness and show your appreciation—it goes a long way in keeping this wonderful place thriving. If you’re in Caldwell, Kathy’s Kitchen is a must-visit!
