Fun place, family oriented , good food reasonable prices

This place has unique decor and lots of nick nacks from a bygone era. Although the service was attentive, it took a bit to get our order of a rueben & fries and a gyro platter with only 8 other patrons in the place and two wait staff. The food wasn't that great. The reuben barley had a half ounce of meat on it, and the grilling only toasted about half the bread. The gyro platter was a disappointment, especially the gyro meat it was from a frozen block. The platter had one pita, cut into quarters. Some curls of gyro meat may be an ounce, wilted lettuce salad, and shredded cucumber mixed with yogurt and garlic. I elected to go with the home fries instead of deep-fried. These home fries were thin slices, grilled like hash browns, and lacked the crunchy browning and flavor other than salt. Baklava are from frozen. The pyhllo dough was soggy, the nut filling was emulsified too much, and had more granulated sugar than honey. For $4.99 each, I expected higher quality. This place might have been great when the founding members ran the place, but like the decor, it needs some upgrading.

The atmosphere is welcoming and fun which makes the place a great dining experience. The food is flavorful and comforting. Deserts are great, a must take out for a later enjoyment. Staff are friendly, competent, and efficient. A very clean establishment with plenty of choices on the menu-an the mirror. We were so satisfied and impressed that we returned a few days later!! We will return with every trip to the area. Excellent meal!
