The menu delivers on the classics while keeping the specials fresh and interesting, the service is second to none, and the ambience is both historical and warm in a way that is truly unique. A must stop if you're in the city - and make sure you pass through the bar on the way to your table.

We were there last night which was a Saturday night, the menu says prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights only, so that was what brought us to the restaurant in the first place. Our reservation was for 5:30 and we arrived on time. Our service was wonderful from beginning to end. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for any of our food or drink. The kitchen could not serve us any prime rib as they would have none available tonight our waitress informed us. Not because they were out,but because It wouldn’t be finished cooking tonight. Very confused about that. Maybe because they allow only two hours to dine, and the rib would not be done in our time slot. Anyway, very disappointed with that. The drink I ordered was also not good. None of our food was worth commenting on. For a 125 year old restaurant you would think they would have prime rib on the days advertised.

It was a Monday, so maybe a little off for that reason. Very loud by the bar even though not any people at the bar. Bartenders slamming empties into trash. We both jumped every time. No more saltines and fresh horseradish offered, just stale rolls. The sides were cold and not properly seasoned. Fried oysters were very oily. Normally completely impressed, but this time was just ok and didn't seem worth the price tag.
