The Detroit style pizza is fire

Ordered over the phone, asked for a regular pepperoni pizza with ricotta and a side of ranch. The man on the other line repeated the order back to me. I gave him my order name and showed up on time. He then tried to gaslight my boyfriend into saying that I never said anything about ricotta and so he had to call me in front of the worker for me to state that I infact did say it and he did repeat it back to me,ON SPEAKER PHONE MIND YOU, and then the owner of whom I’m assuming, took the pizza back, put the ricotta on it, and the worker said sorry we had a pepperoni pizza with honey and a regular pepperoni pizza and then your pepperoni pizza. They gave us the pepperoni pizza with honey. seriously. not only did you blatantly try to lie about your screw up, you then STILL gave us the wrong pizza. AND the pizza was COLD. we had no idea honey was on it until he got home and we tried a bite. this is a $20 pizza that is the size for a five year-old child and they didn’t even get the pizza right. we didn’t even finish it. It was terrible. i’m not sure if these reviews are bought or for promo, but there is literally no possible way that anybody actually enjoys this pizza.

Its Showtime

I thought the chopped cheese sandwich was ok, could have used more seasoning on the meat. The bread was good. Didn't care for the spicy mayo, would get regular next time and hold the banana peppers that came on it.

Drove there and was closed on Saturday at 6pm. Called multiple times with no answer. Maybe they could have some common curiosity and put a message on there answering machine. Won't waste my time again.

My friend heard about this place so we figured we would give it a try. Been so cold lately that we didn't want to venture out but we wanted to dine in somewhere and we thought today was the perfect time. Got to the restaurant slightly before 7pm and had a nice parking spot right in front. No one was dining in when we arrived. The owner's cousin helping out in the front of the house was very friendly and let us know a couple items were sold out. We looked at the rest of the menu and ordered a chopped Italian and Italian beef hoagie. We also order a mushroom and onion pizza. The hoagies came out first. We each had half of the Italian beef and with the jus on the side it was heaven. The bread used for the hoagies had just the right chew. Next we tried the chopped Italian and it was light and delicious. We now knew why everyone was upset when it was missing from the menu for a short duration. My first time trying Detroit style pizza and I can honestly say the crust was excellent and the toppings were flavorful but didn't make the crust soggy at all. Going to definitely be back and will try the Italian beef pizza with hot honey per the suggestion we got.

Got the chopped Italian. It was definitely different for me. But that thing was amazing. The balsamic they put on top just sets it off. The only thing I can complain about... You can't take it home bc it'll be soggy. Could y'all start toasting the buns possibly?

A friend had told me about this spot so I stopped in gave their Italian beef hoagie a try. Which having been to some of the best spots in Chicago for one. I was curious to see if this one would measure up.

Thanks to a conversation with the owner while they made my sandwich I would find out that their bread and dough come from Massoli's Bakery. Which if you didn't already know has killer baked goods. Like they are responsible for all the buns at Swensons.

The right bread matters with a good Italian Beef. If it can't both soak up Au Jus and hold up structurally it ain't going to be good. Thankfully they were ready with the bowl of it To-go since traveling with a Wet Italian beef ain't good. Definitely be sure to let them pile on the giardiniera to give it that nice pepper spice.

Plain and simple if are feeling a solid deli sandwich. This is spot to try. I am excited to go back for their Detroit style pizza next

The experience at Bocadillo Deli was nothing short of outstanding. The food is prepared with clear skill and care, and every bite reflects the pride they take in their craft. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely happy to serve. They’ve even added a brand-new fountain drink station, so that’s another great option to look forward to.

We tried the Chopped Italian Hoagie and the Trio Pizza, and both were exceptional. The hoagie was generously sized—truly a sight to behold—and every ingredient came together perfectly for a rich, satisfying flavor. We could hardly believe we managed to finish it! The pizza, meanwhile, was a masterpiece in texture and taste. The crust had just the right balance of crispness and chew, the toppings were fresh and flavorful, and it arrived piping hot from the oven.

Overall, Bocadillo Deli earns an easy A+ from us. We’re already looking forward to trying more of their sandwiches and pizzas. If you haven’t stopped by yet, do yourself a favor and give them a visit. Good food, good people, and that unmistakable hometown charm—Bocadillo Deli is the real deal.
