There were some positives, but overall won’t be back. Clearly lack of management presence. Staff had small children running around through the restaurant. Slow service while other staff sitting at the bar talking. Unprofessional attire of staff. Cut off Jean shorts and very tight, see through leggings not appropriate when charging 30-40 a plate. Cheese on crab cakes, no thanks. Mashed potatoes more like dry wall paste - so dry - skins still on. Needs lots of fine tuning. Seafood papardelle and tuna sesame noodles were best dishes hands down. Other fish was overcooked. Mixed veg cooked property. I’m afraid this won’t be able to last unless serious changes made. It was a Saturday night and no wait. Only about 6 tables occupied.

The food was very good and our server. Mattie was excellent. However, it's really not good when a restaurant charges. You $2 for ice. My husband ordered bourbon bourbon. On the rocksix and he was charged $8 for the bourbon and $2 for the ice that is not good.

The food was excellent. We have been there 3 times and the food has always been great. Unfortunately the service was not very good. It took about 40 minutes for the waitress to even ask us if we wanted to order food. It was busy but other tables ordered and got food much quicker - I just think our waitress was not properly trained or not cut out for the job. The place is very loud - hard to hear people at your table talk.

Chowder House Cafe was a wonderful experience, everything including ambiance, music , service and food was wonderful, we had the lobster bisque and French onion soups to start with followed by salmon on a sweet masher with veggies / citrus , and crab crusted grouper . Size proportion is generous , chef Dave personally visited with every table to check on your satisfaction with the meal and waitress Maggie was friendly and attentive, definitely recommend eating here !

I’ve been going to The Chowder House for years and have never had any complaints but my last experience was so bad that I won’t be back. Our waitress was rude, we waited almost an hour for our food (it wasn’t busy) and when we finally got it, it had clearly been sitting under heat lamps and was almost inedible. It was even more disappointing because we had a party of 6 including family from out of town.

We went here for a dinner before a play. Large party 9 of us. I think only one person enjoyed their food. The server Julia was on it and great, so this review has nothing to do with her. Our reservation was at 5:45, food in by 6:15, we didn't get our meal out to us till 7:20. Not only did we wait over an hour, half our meals were cold, neither person that got the steaks liked them - said they were chewy, scallop meal was cold, clam chowder had a lot of pepper. They forgot parts of one meal. Total for all of us with tip was over $600 and I wouldn't have paid even half of that for the quality and back of house service. Half our table had to leave and couldn't even enjoy their meal because it took so long. Wouldn't recommend this place, and we love supporting local. Won't be back.
