Went here for Mother’s Day. Sat out on the patio. It was beautiful. There was music by frank which was really nice. The problem we had was having to wait over an hour after ordering for our food. We kept being told that the kitchen was behind which is understandable but everyone around us including people who came after us had their food within a timely manner. Our server AJ was nice until I asked about the pickle spear that was supposed to come with my veggie burger and was told it doesn’t come with my meal. So I asked to see a menu and she said,”Why? do you want to order dessert? And I said I’m not sure yet I’d like to see the menu and she got a little verbally aggressive. Any ways my meal did come with a pickle spear according to the menu. Also we were asked if we wanted a shake while waiting as we thought it was a courtesy but was charged for it . And when we asked about it we were told no it was not a courtesy and that everyone was waiting an hour which was NOT true. I will not be returning here.
Also. My card was charged the full bill plus over 20% tip added prior to me signing anything. I spoke with the manager Carol Calzada, who was very friendly and resolved all of the issues we had. I really appreciate her!
Very peaceful and elegant dining area. Food was great. Staff was cordial, quick and attentive
Just went this morning and had the shrimp and grits special. It was delicious!! Husband and kid loved their meals as well.
It was a chilly where we sat (in the rail car).
This would be an amazing place to start a restaurant. Our experience was d.o.a took an hour for almost everything to be cold and wife had to get her own coffee refills lol. Should of left when we came in and only seen maybe 2 other tables. Hopefully new management turns this place around because the location is super cool
This was our first time to Culp’s and it won’t be our last! Excellent food selection and ambience. We ordered the chicken and waffles, salad, and soup, and want to come back for the old-fashioned soda fountain experience next time. We had spent the morning in Carillon Park and just wanted something easy for lunch. We were very pleasantly surprised!
The food was amazing, the service was fantastic and friendly, and the ambience of eating in 125 year-old street car was unique to say the least. Highly recommend eating here during your visit to Carillon Historical Park.
Had to ask for straws for the kids and coffee refills for the adults. The server advised that he'd have brew more for the top off -- great -- go ahead, because 3$ for a 6oz cup of coffee is ridiculous!!! He NEVER returned with the refill.
If you want to go for the atmosphere you'll get that, but don't expect good service.
Awesome little hidden gem in Carillon Park. Absolutely awesome.

Service was extremely slow for the amount of people in the restaurant. One table got up and left, it was that slow.
The burgers were plain, no flavor at all, the bun disintegrated long before half the burger was eaten. The $16 price tag was definitely not worth the wait.
Chairs were very uncomfortable to sit as long as we did waiting on food and staff. The wait staff were drinking pop behind the counter in between fixing patrons beverages.
They should offer a discount for Dayton History members.
To top it off, there were bugs on the table.

First, I love Carillon Historical Park (Culp's cafe is accessible even if you don't enter the park...but you should). Small but good breakfast and lunch selections. Great French press coffee. The old fashioned soda fountain atmosphere serves tasty soda and ice cream treats, too.
Parking: Parking, both handicap and regular, is available right outside the restaurant.

The food is good. The menu is limited but the sodas are fun to try. Our server overheard my kids asking about crayons and brought us some computer paper and a box of crayons! It’s a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed ourselves. Service was very friendly!
Kid-friendliness: The kids love eating in the trolley! It does fill up, though so it’s not always an option but we get excited when it is!

The service was great but menu has been changed. There isn’t anything fresh.
Dietary restrictions: There is no longer any food a gluten free patron could eat.

I definitely do not recommend this place! We were quoted a 15 minute wait time to be seated. After waiting for over an hour to be seated… We eventually had to give up. I checked in with the staff a couple of times. Maybe they were understaffed… But nobody Seemed to be hustling very hard and they certainly were not accommodating. But when you have little kids… You cannot be quoted a 15 minute wait time and it take more than quadruple that.

Waited 20 minutes for even a "hello", finally left. Read that people had gone to the counter to order but we saw wait staff at several tables taking orders.

Food service was a bit slow, and we had a basic order. Our server was pleasant enough though.
Fries were overcooked, but my Smash burger and my daughters kids Grilled Ham & Cheese meal were devoured.
