Outstanding service!!
Food was not so great this trip I have never had to send my food back before, my first steak was way over cooked and the second was way under cooked. When I asked to speak to a manager to express my concerns she refused, this is extremely unprofessional and rude.

Front desk employees not very attentive. Pick up order wasn’t ready when I arrived so I waited, watched 3 pick up bags come out from the kitchen and be placed on the shelf. The 3 desk employees chatted. Eventually one went to check, and walked back empty handed. Assumed it wasn’t ready yet then. 10 Mins later, same employee checks same three bags, comes back to ask the other employees what the name on my order was, and walked back to retrieve one of the three bags originally set out now almost 15 mins ago. Food was room temp by the time I got home, and I used a food delivery bag in an attempt to keep it warm the whole drive.
Looking for a quiet night out and once again JAR delivered.
After 20 years of eating here we had a newer server (Nita) who took exceptional care of us. Once again, the right choice for a special night out.
Thank you JAR!

I don't know if it was my mood but tonights meal just wasn't as good as a month or so ago. The salmon was a bit over cooked and the old fashioned was not as well made.

Love dining at J. Alexander’s. A staple establishment in our lives for the past 40 years!

This has been my favorite go-to Dayton restaurant for over 20 years. However, some of the recent changes have me concerned. The prime rib French Dip used to be the BEST sandwich in town! I went once a week, like clockwork for years. Over stuffed with gorgeous medium rare prime rib on very good sour dough bread, served with Au Jus and crispy fries for a reasonable $18. The price has been raised to $22 (totally acceptable) but they also cut the amount of meat in half. Now it's just an average sandwich that is mostly bread. I get raising prices for inflation and higher expenses, but you changed the product too much to maximize margins. On the hunt now for a new favorite sandwich...

Okay, I tried J Alexanders for the last time to celebrate a friend's birthday. Service lacking, didn't offer water, didn't offer bread with soup and salad. BTW soup and salad now ala carte $22, dessert served to share and no individual plates. Soup and salad, 1 wine each, dessert was $80. Nothing for the birthday person. Too expensive, too dark inside, less than average service. Done!
Had a glass of a Willamette valley wine, cheese steak hoagie and bowl of tomato soup. $49+ with tip seems too much for an average lunch and very dark environment. Not decked at all for the holidays. Dissatisfied and won't be returning.

We had an amazing night on the patio. We typically sit at the bar and Daniel and Taylor always provide top notch service. Our server tonight was Christian and he was top notch. We had 5 people our party and he was all over it. He was a super nice guy too. Much appreciated.

Found a tiny bug, opaque white, crawling on my son’s plate next to his burger. Our cups were dirty on the inside as well. Lots of gnats flying around. We will not be returning.

Ordered the ahi tuna salad today.
The tuna was spoiled and I sent it back.
The waitress was very apologetic yet no manager came to our table to discuss the issue at hand. They acted like they were doing us a favor by taking the spoiled item off of our tab. This is our third bad experience at J Alexander’s in the last six months in the last six months. Our normal go to has now become a never go to.
