went in to get the meatball sub for lunch, the soup was excellent and plentiful, but the meatball sub was 80% bread and dry

As a dining experience, this restaurant passed with flying colors. Excellent ambiance, prompt impeccable service, the manager even stopped by to check on us after dessert.
But I didn't have the heart to tell him that the food was, well . . . Fine.
Not bad at all, just not impressive.
It was prepared correctly, but did not feel like home style Italian. The sauce was a little watery, and the lasagna didn't stand up. Couldn't taste any espresso in the Tiramisu.
They didn't fall at any level, but their food just didn't impress for the price.

We had a group of about 10 for lunch and the servers were excellent!
I went for the chicken parm and it did not disappoint. Another fav place found.

Watery marinara, undercooked meatballs, spaghetti-o noodles, *cheesy* not creamy Alfredo sauce, unappetizing and stale sweet rolls, and there went the worst $64 I've spent in Dayton.
Service was fine, it's cleaner looking than Franco's ever was, but that doesn't make up for the food being bland at best, and gross at worst.
I don't want to be overly negative, and I don't do this often, but I am shocked at the cheapest pasta being $18 a plate for a heaping portion of slop.
I was really hoping for another Italian option in the heart of Dayton, but for a 10 minute drive, or $20 more, I can have an amazing meal instead of whatever that was.

We've been to the Kettering location. Went to the Fifth St. location over the weekend for the first time. Staff was very friendly, & prompt. Ordered chicken Alfredo, lasagna, & a slice of dutch chocolate cake. The chicken Alfredo was still the best I've eaten. My only complaint was the portion size of the chicken alfredo. Especially for the price. At the Kettering location the bowl was much fuller. I'm not sure if portion sizes have changed, & if that's amount you get now, or not. The food was very good, hot, & flavorful. Waitress was very friendly. We will go back to give it another try.

I got the Trio Delight & the seasonal sangria. It was phenomenal. Our service was Top Teir even with a party of 12. It was much appreciated how attentive everyone was & how great the food was. The staff even accommodated having a birthday cake & birthday decor for our celebration which I found so kind.

Great Italian food and really friendly service. They handled our group of 8 wonderfully. The patio downtown is something we have to do before the cold weather returns!
Parking: We usually avoid downtown Dayton because of parking. No problem at Jimmy's.

I ordered the sausage parmesan sub, and it was saturated with marinera sauce with hardly any sausage. First time there and Very Disappointed...

Really good Italian food!
In our party we had a cheese pizza, chicken and veal Parmesan, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and some manicotti. All of it was excellent full of flavor and more than enough for all of us. Oh and the desserts were pretty good too.
We will return for future visits.

Don't order the Italian combo sub!
We had a group of people and unfortunately a few of us ordered the Italian combo sub. It was served on a dry hard sub bun. There was no condiment on it of any kind. It was hard to manage and very dry. They provided a side of their house dressing which is sort of an Italian vinaigrette which had oil floating on top and got everything wet. We asked for something different such as mayonnaise and the server said they do not have ketchup, mustard or mayonnaise. No substitute was offered. Most of us did not finish half of the sub due to the hard bun, dryness etc. I took the other half home to reconstruct on different bread and with mayonnaise. I would not recommend.
