If you want mountain dew with tequila from a jug as a "margarita," this place is your jam! This is not a traditional Mexican spot. It's a dive bar that has burritos.

If you're looking for AUTHENTIC, then this is a just try!! I always request the spicy salsa whenever I eat at any Mexican Restaurant, and I've had many that were very good, but the tastes that they bring out not only in their salsa, but all of their dishes, outshine anything I have had in Ohio. On top of that, the service is every bit as good, or better than the food!!

We were looking for authentic Mexican food, and we certainly found it in this gem! The tacos were 100% some of the best we've ever eaten. The tortillas were pure heaven! The Tlayuda was a perfect taste of my favorite Mexican state, Oaxaca! The salsa was beautifully crafted with a bold and roasted flavor profile. It definitely has the kick I was looking for, but may be too hot for gringos with weak baby palates. Their horchata and jamaica drinks are the real deal, not made from powder mixes. The service was great and the server was really friendly.I woke up today thinking about the food here, and might need to make another stop in today to grab a few tacos for lunch! If you're looking for real, authentic Mexican food, I can't recommend this place enough! They're fantastic! However, if you're coming here looking for chicken tenders (reference to another review), then you're at the wrong place to begin with. Go back to one of the many Tex Mex chains we have in the area! Or you could teach yourself and your kids to expand your palates at this delicious, mom and pop, authentic Mexican restaurant!

I had a pork taco which didn't smell funny until I put it in my mouth. I should have spat it out on a napkin, but no, I had to eat another small bite. My stomach told me that the meat was spoiled.

Having grown up in Texas I've eaten at restaurants from Matamoros to El Paso and I know authentic Mexican food. This food is authentic, just not of the highest quality. The chile rellenos batter was good, but the pablano was stale. The frijoles were good. But, for heaven's sake, stay away from the churros. They were hard, dry, and all I could taste was the cinnamon.

Having worked in Mexico for a U.S. Manufacturing Company for several years; I can recognize "authentic" Mexican Food when I try it and La Costenita gets it right. It is homestyle and sincere. Totally Recommended ! and enjoy !Try the Huevos Rancheros for brunch !!!

Let's get this out of the way, the FOOD IS GREAT! If you like real mexican cuisine made my actual mexicans, this restaurant has authenticity in spades and the menu is written in spanish first with small english translations at the bottom. The reason for why I'm giving this place a less than great review is there is a MANDATORY 20% TIP and the waitress leaves the tipping space blank. So if you arent paying attention this place will try to rob you blind. Be honest and post the 20% tip upfront. Or better yet TIP stands for "to insure prompt service" so earn a tip instead of thinking what you should be tipped.

This understated restaurant at the corner of Third and Philadelphia in East Dayton serves up a surprisingly broad menu, specializing in seafood. A group of friends I was with discovered this spot on our semi-annual "taco trail" trek along Third, and we've been back several times. I had the Diablo-style fish, which included a roasted white fish rooted with slow-cooked onions and peppers. The rich sauce was delightfully spicy without being too mouth-burning. (Note: I am a hot-head spice hound so it takes a lot to make me sweat.) The sides were the standard refried beans and rice. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, the flesh flaking delicately away under the crispy skin. I also want to recognize the complimentary salsas; the tomatillo blend is mild, tangy, and fresh. The other burnt-orange sauce brought to the table was spicer for sure and had a complex, smokey flavor that was a crowd pleaser at our table.Even though the menu has plenty of seafood options, there are traditional Tex-Mex options for those less adventurous diners and/or children in your party. There are south-of-the-border snacks and other retail sundries available for purchase, as well. Check out their large meal packages if you need to bring something unique and tasty to your next gathering.Visit this family-owned business when you're craving some authentic-style Latin seafood dishes.Vegetarian options: Many dishes do come with cheese and sour cream, so be sure to ask to omit those items for vegan options.Kid-friendliness: Cheese quesadillas, chicken tacos, and other simple menu items are sure to please picky palates.Parking: Small lot next to the building with additional on -street parking spaces around the building.

The food was extremely bland, which I understand as normal Mexican. However, when I say it was bland, it really was. It’s not in the best neighborhood and I didn’t plan on going there but I was with a friend who recommended it. He too was disappointed with the food that we got. I got sick about an hour after I got home. I’m not trying to slam the business but it wasn’t good.
