My husband and I had a delightful dinner here with my husband's boss and his wife. The entire evening was delightful! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the different offerings available. Our glasses were never empty and we were never left waiting for food! I don't think I could pick a favorite!!! Everything was utterly delicious! We tried the shrimp, chicken and NY strip and they were all scrumptious. The pastas were all delectable, but the brown butter pasta was LEGENDARY. The olives were also phenomenal! And the chocolate cake?! Oh. My. Word. It was out of this world! I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu here!

Recently was reminded of how absolutely amazing this restaurant is. We've tried others nearby, but nothing compares to ROOST.

Great steaks and one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had, and for a reasonable amount of money. Sometimes it can be hard to get a reservation, so plan ahead.

Parking: Park in the Oregon and walk, or take scooters for the vibes.

Looked forward to trying the rebranding of Roost. We were in on a week night fairly early and were told to pick any table we liked.

Service was prompt but not very informative
Took a bit to get menus but not a problem as we had plenty of time. Ordered a bottle of cava but a while later were told they were out. Tasted an unknown rose & Sauvignon blanc. Rose was ok so ordered a bottle.
Ordered 3 courses;
Grilled artichokes-fantastic
Mussels Calabrian style-tomatoes over powered the dish with little mussel flavor surviving
Spaghetti alla Chitarra-pepper flakes overwhelmed all other flavors. It was supposed to have guanciale, totally missing.
Asked about desert, nothing but a gelato.
Not sure if we’ll give them another try.

Food was fine, just minimal. Hope you are not hungry. Biggest complaint was glass of house Cab was $17! Shareable plates were essentially expensive appetizers - $20 for 5 shrimp. Beware of your bill - we simply asked for bill to be split evenly between two and somehow the amount charged for each menu item was $1-$2 more than necessary. Amazingly when questioned, the amounts were corrected. Thought it was a bit under-handed, which is a shame.

Service was fantastic, as usual. The mussels and chocolate cake were incredible. Excited to go back and try more new dishes!

Went here for an anniversary dinner expecting a luxury experience based on the price point. However, it was mediocre at best. After sitting down, it took roughly 15 minutes to be greeted by our server. When asking questions about the menu, the waiter's answers were short and not helpful. When asked about if we should order everything at once, as we haven't been there before, he said "its your dinner, do it how you want." The food was decent, but not worth the $$. 3/5 at best.

The restaurant week meal was fantastic. We each selected different menu items to try each and there was real mouth pop from the flavors. Service was also excellent.

Very fancy place. I feel like their menu is limited. That service was top notch. I ordered the parmigiano frites and they were delicious. It comes in a bucket large enough for a family. The 2 sauces that go with it cost extra which is crazy.

Roost Modern Italian serves such fine food! Every bite is fresh and savory. Oh, so good. I have been coming here for more than ten years; always fresh, always delicious. What is disappointing are the portions versus price. The main course sea bass was a little over three ounces of seafood. Wine was $20 dollars+ per glass. Don’t get me wrong; the food is fantastic. But for the first time ever, it was no longer a good value for the price paid.

so good. We started with the mussels. Beautiful creamy sauce with a very subtle hint of spice. Wedding risotto… shut up. So good. If you love Italian wedding soup and comfort food this is the perfect dish. Creamy chicken risotto over a bed of creamy risotto and meatballs. This is all placed over a savory broth. Again.. SO GOOD. My husband got the scallops and they were fabulous. Ravioli made to perfection tossed in a creamy sauce and scallops. Excellent dish.

Service 5/5: We had Brittany (sp?).. amazing. She gave great recommendations for wine pairings with our meals and was rapid and attentive. There’s servers who just want the day to end and servers who enjoy creating an experience with you. She’s the latter.

Atmosphere 5/5: Beautifully designed. From the ambient low lights to the different textured walls. This place is a VIBE honey.

Moral of the story… come to roost and see one of the bests that Dayton has to offer.

Our friends have been raving about this place for years and now that we're finally back in the states- we got to try it! The entire experience was phenomenal. The bartender created a delicious mocktail at my request which was a nice personal touch on an already intimate dinner. We loved chatting with Chef and finding out that our friends we were with celebrating their anniversary- had the exact same anniversary as Chef! The food had a unique European appeal-- no corners were cut in ingredients, presentation or service.

This was, by far, the best overall dinner experience we’ve had in a long time. Service and food were both exceptional. We dined on Saturday night and it was crowded but we didn’t wait for anything. We had the artichoke appetizer. They were tender and delicate. I had the filet and for how thick it was, it was cooked perfectly medium, as I had asked. My husband had the scallops with pasta. Scallops were tender and expertly cooked. Pasta was perfectly al dente. I got the chocolate cake for dessert. Wow. It was enough for three people. It was also super moist. This is a fine dining experience that I would live to have again and again. Great job!
