Taste of Belgium – The Greene

Chicken biscuit gravy with egg. So delicious! Boneless. Gravy is delicious and has flavor. Great service and nice place to sit with large windows.

Service was bad, the waffles weren’t as good as marketed and the frites were the only good thing here. It was so cold, the server was very nice but my days! Never coming back. ??

The food was really good but the service was … uncomfortable. Me and my girl friend wanted to try something new and we had been talking about this place for a while now, were so exited to try a new restaurant. When we got there we chose to sit at a booth, and our waitress wasn’t as attentive or friendly like she was with tables around us, me and my girlfriend were super nice and polite to her but she seemed to avoid us at all costs anyways. My girlfriend and I are women of color and so of course that’s the first thought I had if it wasn’t our skin then it was our relationship ? I’m not sure what bothered her but she didn’t check on our table not ONCE after our food was dropped off, we constantly saw and heard her talk to the table behind us :( we were her only table of color and I kept watching her go to other tables and hoping that maybe this time she will pass by us and just trying to save her image but no. I was very disappointed. We constantly had to stop her in her tracks for her to serve us, when we were finished with our meals I asked for a box and she wanted to avoid us SO BAD that she threw the box at our table making the box almost fall off, we didn’t feel welcomed. My girlfriend payed the bill and tipped her making it an even number just to find out on our way back home that an EXTRA 10$ WERE TAKEN AS WELL I’m not sure what happened, but my first thought was the server tipped her self an extra 10$ :/ disappointing.

This place honestly wasn't bad at all, my only issue was with the waitress. Me and my girlfriend received little to know service when we attended. I hate to use race but it felt as if we were looked over and ignored because of such (she was overly friendly with the other tables that surrounded us). My girlfriend asked for a box and in a quick rush the box was placed on the table and almost knocked over by the waitress because she tried to leave immediately after she brought it to us. The worst part of it all is the fact that I left a 7 dollar tip, which was 22% which made our bill an even $50. However, upon checking my account I noticed that $60 was taken from my account which means the server helped herself to an additional amount of gratuity.

The food was not fantastic, but the drinks and service were nice. We ordered the bier cheese, which was ok.

My wife had the salmon, which she said was a little too greasy. I had the steak and fries. I asked for medium and got it super well done... to point it was dense.

The service was really good though and she was apologetic.

Won't be returning, unfortunately.

Edit: Against my better judgement, I ate that dense steak. We had a movie showing so I didn't have time to have them fire up another, nor did I want to waste meat a creature died to provide... but I should not have eaten it. It was so dense that I had digestion issues all night. Never again.

Selection of food is minimal...unsure what the intent was for the menu. Not really a Belgium style menu. Service was slow, but the food was ok. Not sure if I'll be back. This was my first visit. Definitely not what I was expecting.

Taran our server was amazing! She was sweet, caring, fast and attentive. She always had a smile on her face. The food was wonderful but the service was even better!

One word that comes to mind is YUCK! Our server was unfriendly and inattentive. We asked for lemon in our water, creamer for our coffee and more coffee, ketchup for the potatoes. She never brought any of this to us. My coffee had a lot of grounds in it and it was very bitter. I thought perhaps that's the Belgian way of making coffee. We had to flag down another server, who apologized for the coffee grounds and brought me a fresh cup. She also brought the creamer, the lemon and the ketchup. About the food! Like I said, first thing that comes to mind is YUCK! My daughter's crepe looked like it was wrapped in burnt parchment paper. She wasn't able to eat anything except the eggs inside the crepe. My omelette was tasteless. My granddaughter got an $8 kids breakfast. With the tip it was over $65 for two and a half people. That's ridiculous!!! We went to First Watch a few weeks ago with four adults and a child and our bill with a tip was only $70. We will not be going back to Taste the Belgian. Do not waste your money!!

Dietary restrictions: Our server was clueless about gluten-free options. She recommended the omelet with the fries! Waste of money. My daughter's crepe look like it was folded in burnt parchment paper. The only thing she was able to eat or the eggs.

We had never been to the Taste of Belgium before, and we will be back! We had a great first experience from the atmosphere, to pricing and menu variety, to service. 5/5 from my family!
