The space is lovely and the oat milk iced matcha is really nice! The garlic focaccia was delicious. I would love more vegan options and a baby changing table though!! Maybe soon? :)

Only recently did I discover this beautiful bakery. I love everything I've had at Val's. You know that they put their heart to each item sold. So thrilled they are in my city. Try their matcha latte and their cruffin?. You will love it, if not, no worries try something else ?. Have a wonderful day!

First off, I will say the food/baked goods here are delicious. I have been to their old locations before their move and honestly I think the food got better since after the move. They also serve a wider away of baked goods and seems fairly well stocked. The space is really nice as well. It's large and has a fair amount of varied seating (couches, tables, benches, bar seating, and outdoor seating) so there is a plenty of space for people to sit and move around. I will say, I do think that since it is a large concrete space, it was pretty loud just because every sound bounced off the walls. That could be fixed with some soft textiles/art on the walls or ready made noise dampening tiles. The service was a little left to be desired. It was a Sunday when we went in and it seemed that there were only 2 people working and they seemed overwhelmed. Because the pastries are ready to eat, we got those immediately but we ended up having to wait about 15 minutes to get our pour over coffees. Also the staff seemed to be scrambling to find whose drink belonged to who, which could easily be fixed with a number system (other cafes so this, the one that sticks out is Pettibone).Overall, it was a good experience. I do know the owner wants to bring back espresso and has opened up a GoFundMe to put in a water line, which confuses me because they already have water running to the front of the shop with a sink there... Nonetheless, definitely worth going in for the pastries as they are amazing (probably the best in Dayton) and they are made fresh!

The place is beautiful. The coffee was excellent, but unfortunately, the pastries and cakes were too hard.

Val’s is one of my favorite places in Dayton. I was so excited when they moved to Downtown, because now I can visit on my lunch breaks! My last time there I got the triple berry fold (literally the best thing I’ve ever eaten), a croissant (prob the best one I’ve ever had), and a Tiramisu cold brew (my fave drink there). It makes me so sad to see that people have left reviews disparaging Val’s because it’s not an industrial bakery… like yes, they do run out of things because they’re making complex multi-day pastries; and their menu is a little bit different every time I visit… but that just makes me look forward to the next time I visit because I can try something new!The new location is also gorgeous and the mural makes me feel like I’m by the ocean. If you love creative and delicious pastries and great coffee, then you’ll also love Val’s!

Pastries are AMAZING. My go to is the coffee cake. I am a fan of just a good ol cup of black coffee and they do not disappoint. They are so responsive to the community and you can see how hard the staff and owner are working to deliver what their customers want to see. They have some really pretty cute mugs as well;)

This place keeps getting better and better. Have been going since they first opened on Bigger road and I’m so impressed by how they continue to adapt and improve. I have always had friendly and helpful service - especially with advice ordering drinks and deciding on pastries. I’m kind of a snob for laminated pastries and these new menu items are knocking my socks off! I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!Parking: Parking is metered but honestly it’s a quick in and out if you’re taking with you. I’ve circled the block before to find a good spot and don’t mind the very short walk if I need to park on a side street. WORTH IT.

The pastries at Val’s are unmatched anywhere in the Dayton area. The flakiness never ends. The sausage roll is to die for. Part of the allure is that the menu is seasonal and always changing. This means there’s always something fresh and new to try and it’s always astonishingly good. The employees are never anything less than helpful and friendly. I’ve been in dozens and dozens of times and am always glad I came. Whatever you do, don’t leave without the tiramisu cold brew. You’ll never stop coming back.

We came in this past Saturday to visit the new location and were so pleased! We got a few different things, the cookie was my absolute favorite! We’ve never had anything we didn’t absolutely love. Super cool aesthetic, I love the local goods sold in shop too. We had no trouble finding parking around the corner and found a few other shops we loved too (:

This bakery is technically not new, but I love the new location as a walkable downtown option. They do sell out so go early. We've loved every pastry!

I love Val's and am so happy she moved downtown Dayton and is now in walking distance from my work. Val's offers a variety of delicious pastries and coffee. I had been dying to try the caprese pastry and it was delicious. I also ordered a pour over coffee and added their homemade syrup. The location has more seating available, as well. The atmosphere is wonderful with a hand painted mural from a local artist, gift options from local vendors, a dried floral bar, and a little free library. I would highly recommend Val's to anyone looking for a delicious pastry, relaxing atmosphere or cup of coffee.
