Frisch's in Defiance is my all time go to for their delicious Cod Sandwich and crinkle cut fries! The cod is just so light and delicious and the Frisch's special tartar sauce just makes the sandwich perfect! It's my favorite lunch spot when I'm in Defiance!

Whenever I see a Big Boy I need to stop in and have a bite of nostalgia. In many cases when one wants to reminisce of the ‘good ole days’ foodwise, one finds a semblance of the taste, environs and history combined in the setting. Unfortunately, this was not the case with my visit recently to Frisch's Big Boy Restaurant in Defiance, Ohio! One of the few vestiges of a Big Boy bygone era. Unfortunately, the expectations are one cannot relive the past to remake current expectations. But, since my last visit here just a few short years ago, things seem to have gotten worse. I now understand why they have only garnered a 1.8 rating on Yelp! It makes me wonder whether the other seven locations are the same. From the almost bare seating available other than the 100-year-old booths, to the lack of patrons at lunch time, to a certain degree of deficiency of cleanliness says a lot. Their offerings although somewhat extensive ranges from Burgers & Sandwiches, beverages, hot meals, salads and so on… but once ordered, one’s nostalgic enthusiasm is exhausted! To make a long story short my wife and sis decided to go the their ¼ lb. beef burger with cheese, mayo, tomato, lettuce and pickles. And I went for the cup of Chili with onion and cheese – very bland, very lacking. And the Fish & Chips with 2 dried up and tough brown batter which seemed like they’d molded pieces of whitefish served with fries and what they called Tartar Sauce. I’m sorry… we have visited Frisch's Big Boy Restaurant of Northwest Ohio here in Defiance with every visit to Defiance over the past twenty years, but unfortunately not again. Caveat emptor.
1st Review: Quenches occasional Americana desires! Although not the fanciest, most comfortable or greatest food place, it's kind of cool to walk into the past - circa late 50's early 60's! This is one of those few 'real' retro places, not the new 'retro-look'. You'll find the well known 'Happy Days' fare such as meatloaf, burgers, etc... And although not the best, its American comfort food... you'll enjoy a decent meal with a bit of real nostalgia. This should be considered Defiance's best kept secret as an edible historic landmark.

Wife and I stopped in late today,Monday,ordered western omelets. As soon as our food was plated up it was on its way to us. With other restaurants in the area when we get hash browns you can see the plate through the potatoes. In the years we've been coming here we have always had excellent service and excellent food. Thank you

Food was great. Water was horrible. Bathroom was clean but had sewer gas coming back up the drains. The service okay but nothing out of the ordinary. But the food was great

I was so happy to find a Frisch's Big Boy still open so I had to stop and get something to eat when I was traveling home from work. The food was great, service was good they were a little busy, and I used the drive-thru when I stopped. They do have an open dine-in area as well.
