The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was so cozy, comfy, and just really nice. The atmosphere alone would make me want to try this place again. They vary the menu a lot I see with lots of fun offerings, but I think it would be nice to keep a couple more staple items on the menu. I would have really liked some sort of salad with my meal or maybe a French onion soup and they did not have any soups or salads. Espresso martinis were really great! I got a pasta dish. Loved all the components of it, but do feel the sauce felt unfinished. The sourdough toast app was great. My wife got the pork with collards and grits. Would have been great if the pork was cooked more. The grits and greens were great, but texture of the pork made us cringe. I know not fully cooked pork is more common these days, but typically we’re asked how we want it cooked and it was an after thought to mention we wanted it fully cooked. We now know for next time! Free dessert was provided for our anniversary and that was really nice!
We've been waiting for years for a restaurant of this quality. 5/5 across the board. We'll be back.

Fantastic neighborhood spot! We went for my birthday and sampled several dishes — everything from the food to the service and atmosphere was excellent.

Great experience. We had the Beef Tatski (very flavorful), half-dozen oysters (very clean and sweet, from Prince Edward Island). The Black Cod (very balanced and light), and the Roasted Plum Shortcake (perfectly amazing). You can't go wrong here. We loved the experience. Get the espresso martini if that's your cup of tea. It has a mix of orange, it's perfect. Ask John to make the perfect Old Fashioned, it's also just as beautiful.... Staff is amazing, responsive, and precise.

Moved here over 5 years ago from DC (a foodie city) and in that time I’ve had a hand full of meals that I would consider truly great. This would be one of them! Service matched the food in a cozy atmosphere. Even the home made soda was awesome. Hands down the best food, service and experience I’ve had in the years I’ve lived in CBUS. Do yourself a favor, try it.

Great experience, highly recommend this place to anyone else. Our server was Ivy, she was excellent. She made an excellent wine recommendation for us, as wine-noobs who aren't too fond of the tasted of alcohol. Food was great, unique flavors and quite creative.
We got:
Gilda olives, anchovies, piparra peppers, aïoli $8
Roasted honeynut squash, squash chutney, herbilicious, seed brittle (VG + GF) $15 (pictured)
Chicken-fried wild mushrooms, black-eyed peas, greens, sriracha glaze (VG + GF) $24 (pictured)
Grilled bone-in pork loin, roasted apples, maple glaze, celeriac purée $32
Vietti, Moscato, Asti, IT, W - $12 (only one glass ordered)
Total after tip came out to ~$100 for 2 people. Decently filling.
Vegetarian options: There were a few vegan, vegetarian and nut-free options available at the time of review. The menu seemed seasonal so this may change.

Went to Gene's after some friends recommended it. I'll start by saying the service was outstanding, both the waitstaff and bartender were hustling and attentive the entire night. The venue is beautiful yet simple with a homey and intimate feel.
The food was generally quite delicious. We shared the crudo, fried mushrooms, ceasar salad, bacalo, and eggplant tonkatsu. From a preparation and presentation perspective, everything was outstanding. My only critique on the food was that the eggplant definitely needed more seasoning, specifically salt.
We will definitely be coming and consider this a gem in Old Dublin.
