I tried Hoshi Ramen and left really disappointed. The broth was bland with no depth of flavor at all, which is the heart of a good bowl of ramen. Typically, you expect layers of richness… pork bones simmered down into a creamy tonkotsu broth, miso adding earthy depth, or shoyu bringing a savory, slightly smoky punch. Instead, this just tasted flat, almost like lightly seasoned hot water.
The pork was another letdown. There was very little of it, and what they did serve wasn’t the rolled, melt-in-your-mouth chashu you usually find at a ramen shop. It came across as a shortcut, more like thin slices tossed in without care.
Service was ok, but I came here for the flavor, and it just wasn’t there. Ramen should be comforting and full-bodied, with toppings that feel intentional and a broth that makes you want to drink every last drop. Sadly, this felt like a very lazy version of what ramen should be.

The shoyu tasted like unseasoned chicken oil and the miso broth was equally flavorless. The spice bomb was not spicy. Maybe great for the midwest I guess?

Dropping this to a 4 after trying a couple of the ramen styles recently and the taste seemed a bit off. Can’t really go lower than that because the not ramen dishes I’ve had are still quite good, especially the seaweed salad.
I admit I haven’t been to a ramen place before, which may cause a different take than people that seek these places out. Got the shoyu ramen and it was pretty flavorful to my taste. The mix of the pork belly and noodles and vegetables made for a fun experience. Service was laid-back but still attentive and fit for a place that had anime playing on the TV screen. My only complaint is that people not used to Japanese food terms may have to look up some unfamiliar terms. I’d like to go back sometime to try some other things on the menu.

Staff were nice enough. However, my take out order was mixed up with someone else's... I didn't get what I ordered. And, unfortunately, whatever it was, was less appealing than Maruchan Instant Lunch. I could have made better at home, and for four nights in a row, for the same amount of money. Won't be returning... sorry to have to say.

Update.. their quality of ramen went bad. Not recommended.
2020..Their tonkotsu ramen $11 was pretty good. Wish the soup broth was more thick like one in Japan. Some crashed garlics and sesame seeds would give more flavor.
It is cool that they can do “kae dama ” which you order just for ramen noodles $4 and put in the soup after you eat and enjoy as a second bowl . Pork bun $3 was different from what I expected.
Ollie did an amazing job! Food was absolutely delicious as always!
