We've been waiting. My wife and I have been going down to this area of Ohio for over half our lives. When we saw there was a winery literally 7 minutes from the property we hang out at, we had to check it out. We planned a day to go only to find out it was closed for a private event. We didn't let that detour us. We set our sights on August 17th. While waiting for the winery to open at our friends cabin, Freeport was hit with a bad mamma jamma storm. After the storm, we ventured out in to what seemed like a F3 rolled through the hills. We were one minute away from the winery when we ran in to downed power lines. Normal people turn around at this point. We ain't those people. We made it passed the down power lines only to find a giant tree laying across the road. Normally, we have the means to tackle a situation like this, but I decided to take the "L Wagon" instead of Ray Ray's truck. Normal people would take this as a sign from the good lord above to abort the mission. Again, we ain't those people. We plotted a new course and eventually made it to the winery. Unexpectedly, Trevor and Kim were at a wedding that day so we did not get to meet them. That's not their fault, I didn't tell them that we were coming. We lucked out and had Trevor's mom take care of us. She was so sweet and knowledgeable. After we built our wine flights, I asked her who was sitting in the Terrace at the big table. She said it was some regulars/locals. You know, the retired CAT diesel mechanic and his wife and daughter. I told the crew that we were heading out there to make some new friends. So that's how we got there. The location was awesome and the wine was fantastic. My wife is a big fan of the Sunset Stag. I have a glass full of it at the moment of this review. I really enjoyed the Horizon. We can't wait to go back down there and hang with Trevor and Kim. We'll just let you guys know ahead of time when we do.

Nicest Winery I’ve been too. My family and I were camping down the road, and I wanted to start to grab a couple bottles of wine. They were beyond welcoming from the second I walked in the door. The wine slushies are amazing too!!! Thank you guys!!!

The Wellstone Winery is a beautiful, cozy venue with outdoor seating under one of three pavilions. Everything is new and gorgeous. The wine slushies are really good.
