We stayed in the Boathouse. It was beautifully furnished and has a panoramic view of Lake Erie. You can hear the waves washing up on the beach with the windows closed, which is very soothing. The reason I only gave it three stars is because of the breakfast situation. This is very expensive accommodation that includes breakfast which is delivered to your room. However. To get breakfast you have to order it via text and you can't put in your order for the next morning until the Inn sends out the link sometime in midmorning. Then you have to pick your time slot. Available times start at 8:30 and then every half hour. You are in competition with the other guests for the time slot you want. They only deliver to 3 or 4 rooms in each time slot and the earliest time is 8:30 a.m. We tried for 8:30 a few minutes after the link was posted then were bumped to 9:30. It is just weird. We were there for 2 nights and never did get a time for breakfast that we were going to be in our room.
We booked a traditional room that was described as having a private bath, which we assumed included a bathtub. Upon arrival, we were disappointed to find it was just a shower — no tub. This was especially frustrating because we had planned to purchase the Champagne and Bubbles package, which required a bathtub and therefore couldn’t be accommodated.
The front desk staff was also not very helpful or welcoming. Every question we asked was met with, “I have to check with my boss,” and we didn’t get clear answers or solutions. To make things more inconvenient, there’s no staff available after hours — just an emergency number posted at the front desk.
That said, the property itself has some redeeming qualities. The views of the lake are beautiful, the private beach is a nice touch, and the yogurt parfait breakfast was a pleasant surprise. With better customer service and clearer room descriptions, this stay could have been much more enjoyable.
We had dinner at the Crosswinds Restaurant at the Lakehouse Inn yesterday, for our 50th Anniversary. Food was excellent and so was the service. Outdoors was beautifully landscaped and the view of the Lake Erie was phenomenal.
Disappointed and Heartbroken by Management’s Treatment of Our Family
We had visited this winery several times in the past and always appreciated its warm hospitality, beautiful views, quality wine, delicious food, and relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately, after our most recent experience, my family and I will never return.
We brought my aunt—who is recovering from a life-threatening brain aneurysm and had just returned home from the Cleveland Clinic—to celebrate her recovery with our family of eight. We also brought along her well-behaved miniature schnauzer, who is a trained support animal. A few of us ordered drinks inside, and the staff was kind, welcoming, and explained that we were welcome to enjoy our beverages on the patio. We brought my aunt a glass of ice water and settled her comfortably in a shaded lounge chair, with her support dog resting quietly underneath her.
While some of our group played miniature golf and others dined at the Lakeside restaurant, spending several hundred dollars, the property manager, Jeff, approached my aunt—who was quietly resting with her support dog—and very rudely told her she had to leave because she was “not a guest of the property” and dogs were not allowed. Despite her explaining her medical condition, the support status of her dog, and that her family was dining on-site and supporting the business, Jeff remained dismissive and uncompassionate.
My aunt was understandably shaken. She managed to make her way up the stairs to join us inside the restaurant—visibly upset and in tears—sharing what had just occurred. It was deeply upsetting to witness her joy and peace shattered so abruptly during what was meant to be a special family celebration.
I personally went to speak with Jeff to ask for an exception, especially given the circumstances. He reiterated that no dogs were allowed unless we booked a room for $1,000—and then added that there were no rooms available anyway. Despite the fact that the patio was otherwise empty, he refused to consider any accommodation or show any empathy. His tone was cold, dismissive, and frankly, inhumane.
We had already spent over $250 and had plans to spend more that evening for dinner, which we ultimately canceled. The lack of compassion and basic human decency we encountered was shocking, especially from someone in a leadership position.
This experience served as a powerful reminder: it’s not the food, the view, or the amenities that define a place—it’s how people are treated. While the servers inside were lovely and professional, the property manager Jeff’s behavior overshadowed everything else. His actions turned what should have been a joyful, meaningful afternoon into a painful memory.
I hope this review prompts others to consider the values of the businesses they choose to support. We will never return, and we will share this experience with others to ensure no family—especially one with a medically vulnerable member—is ever treated this way again.
Receipts and proof of our purchases can be provided upon request.

The restaurant is so so so overpriced
Our experience was in the dining room. The food was fine, one of our guests order was forgotten, so he had to wait while we ate. The server was being shadowed by a new hire, which wasn't an issue, but she was not at all attentive or that personable .
What a little slice of heaven this beautiful property is well maintained down to the detail, very clean. Right on the water with a small beach we enjoyed, waking to the view on the numerous decks available what a treat. We opted for the room delivered breakfast each morning which was very nice fresh fruit and yogurt parfait, quiche yum! The restaurant on the property excellent 👍. Can't wait to go back!
Stayed in the captains quarters. Quiet and peaceful place to stay on the lakefront with plenty of deck, patio, and beach lounging space. Staff is attentive but you will hardly notice they are there as they do their best to allow for a retreat like feel. Would definitely recommend this as an option for quick or extended getaway.
My sister and I stayed in the Boathouse. It had a sitting area that looked directly onto the water, with beautiful flowers right outside the windows. We decided to just hang around the Boathouse and the outside areas all the second day because it was so perfect. The flowers all over the property are amazing! Many of the rooms seem to be geared towards couples, with the bed and a large tub in the area with the best view, but the Boathouse arrangement is great for anyone! Also, I have very high standards for cleanliness, and our room scored a 5/5!
We had a wonderful stay in the cabins-Nicely appointed accommodations with incredible grounds. The staff were very attentive and the breakfast choices were delicious and filling. Dinner at the Crosswinds was next level for Geneva! It is pricey, but this expected for a seasonal town and upgraded services.

Wonderfully updated inn right on Lake Erie. We enjoyed the tastefully decorated room (with an amazing view) and the spa services which are on site. Sort of a hidden gem right outside of Cleveland! Will definitely return- had a delightful time away not only at the Inn but also visiting the local town and the state park!
Stayed at the Sturgeon Suite. Everything was wonderful but the only thing we didnt like was the timing of the breakfast. The earliest you can get breakfast is 830am and then it's not on time. We are early risers so we are up at 6 to 7. So we have already waited over an hour to two hours for the breakfast and then it was late. The morning we are trying to leave, it was very late and we had to pickup our son from the sitter. We ended up leaving before we got the breakfast and left hungry. My suggestion is to have a continental breakfast for the early risers as another option. I would have been happy with a bagel or muffin. All in all it was a great stay, nice room, nice location and great experience at the spa.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful weekend getaway here. We had massages at the spa which were wonderful, our room was spacious, well appointed, and had a wonderful view of the lake. Dinner at the restaurant was convenient and relaxing. The following morning we had breakfast delivered to our room and were able to have a slow morning and take in the lake. At every step the service was attentive and friendly while not being overbearing. The price was absolutely commensurate with the service and the amenities we received and I never once felt that I had to pay extra for something silly.
I booked the Besties package for myself and two friends to celebrate their milestone birthdays. The price is very reasonable in the off-season and the package offers a lot. We received a one night stay in the cottages, wine flights, cheese board, a bottle of champagne, snacks in the room, and dinner vouchers at the onsite restaurant. I also got a birthday cake added on, which was super nice. The cottages are spacious, clean, and fully equipped with everything you need. The Crosswinds restaurant on site has very delicious food and we all enjoyed it. I will say the advertising is a bit misleading. The cottages do not offer a view of the lake, but rather the parking lot. It was fine since it was the winter and got super dark early anyway, but that was still a little disappointing nonetheless. I would recommend a room in the resort that actually does overlook the lake. They also deliver breakfast baskets to you in the morning and the food is super fresh and delicious. I would certainly come again in the future, it’s a cute resort and very quiet.
