I had a very simple DD order. I asked for the bagel to be toasted and for extra cream cheese. I received neither. The fact the these 2 requests were ignored shows very poor attention to customer service. 😕

My boyfriend, my 10 month old puppy, and I were staying in Hamilton for the weekend and needed a quick breakfast. We stopped at True West Coffee and went inside. I immediately picked up my puppy to hold her in my arms and order, however one of the staff let me know that they only allowed services animals in the shop, so I gave my boyfriend my order and went outside to wait on the porch.
As my boyfriend is waiting inside for our food, he overhears the staff questioning why we would bring our dog into the shop and comparing it to bringing a baby into a bar. I did understand that I had to take her outside when asked, however I find this discussion between the staff highly inappropriate. There were no signs anywhere specifying that no dogs and only service animals were allowed which should be clearly stated if this is such a big deal to the staff as they made it out to be.
We also got our food and it honestly could have been made by a third grader. The wheat toast was not very toasty, the bacon was far from crisp, and the egg wasn’t fresh. The only other option I could read before my puppy and I were booted out was peanut butter and banana in a wrap, so that didn’t seem like a better option either.
All in all, my experience here wasn’t the best. We didn’t get any coffee, which I’m sure is great. I wouldn’t base opinions on this one-off experience, but I for sure will not be visiting ever again.

If you are ever in a hurry in the A.M. do not stop here. Has taken them 10 minutes to just grab 2 muffins/no drink before.

The staff and atmosphere alone are worth stopping in for! They were all genuinely SO kind and welcoming that they could have given me a cup of dish water and I would have been satisfied, lol! But with that being said, my big group was accommodated nicely and all of our food and drinks were very good! I got a pumpkin spice latte and it was delicious! They even did some cute doodles on our cups!
I will definitely stop in next time I find myself in the area. The shop is absolutely adorable and right in the heart of town! One of my favorite stops I've ever made!
I wish we had heard about this place a day earlier. A great little coffee house in Hamilton. They had quite a nice set of options. They are a smallish operation so if you do happen to get behind a big order, you may have to wait a little longer than normal - which we did, but the results are worth it.
