I had breakfast today that I definitely was disappointed with. It was a bowl with tater tots, overcooked scrambled eggs, tiny burnt bacon, burnt onions with avocado. I hoped for the price it would have been a Specialty!

Upon walking into bside coffee bar, the atmosphere and ambiance was welcoming, and to my surprise, it was quite spacious in there. The service however, was not so friendly. I walked in, and right away, the lady at the register asked what I’d like to order. I told her that I had an order and she told me that over to the right was the area for DoorDash orders. I told her that I had an online order and before I could completely finish my sentence, (in a raised tone of voice) she says something along the lines of “ONLINE ORDERS WOULD BE OVER THERE TOO.” I honestly was confused because for one; why did you automatically assume that my order was a DoorDash? And for two; why did you raise your voice at me because I corrected you? I’ve never been here before and as a first time patron, I’m not aware of where things are. At this point, it surely didn’t feel very welcoming, as I initially thought. Besides that, I ordered the bacon and egg breakfast taco and it was pretty good, although the bacon was not crumbled; as it was pictured on the menu. If my takeout experience was like that, I’m not sure what to expect when dining in. I’m not sure if I’ll return.

My husband ordered a delivery of breakfast sandwiches without me knowing. BEST SURPRISE EVER! We are coming in next time!

Hello

I gave a 3 for food because the french toast was hard and the proportions were surprisingly small. However, the liquor and coffee was great and the staff is really nice. Lovely atmosphere too!

I’m writing to share a disappointing experience I had at your establishment on May 10, 2025, around 11:45 AM. My fiancée and I walked in with the intention of ordering two iced coffees. At the time, there was only one customer at the bar, who appeared to be deliberating over a beer selection.

Despite our presence being clearly visible, the bartender did not acknowledge us at any point. After approximately five minutes, another woman entered the restaurant and explained she had returned to pay for her order. I kindly allowed her to go ahead of us. The bartender served her and then resumed assisting the original patron—still without offering so much as a greeting or a simple, “I’ll be right with you.”

After standing there unacknowledged for several more minutes, my fiancée and I decided to leave. What makes this experience particularly disheartening is that I’ve dined here often and have never encountered such a lack of basic courtesy. As a Black-owned business in Huber Heights—where such establishments are few and far between—I had always appreciated your presence in the community. Unfortunately, this experience left such a negative impression that I no longer feel comfortable returning.

It takes very little effort to acknowledge customers and manage expectations with a brief, polite interaction. Sadly, that basic level of customer service was entirely absent during our visit.

While I did not catch the bartender’s name, I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of hospitality and professionalism.

Food came out quickly and hot. It was an average menu. The website states they do their best to source local but didn’t reference any local places other than their bagel source (they had three bagel options).
No coffee menu displayed.
We had a breakfast sandwich which came with no sides for $10 and a breakfast bowl for $13. The sandwich was bland and dry. The bowl had very little bacon and the tots were not crispy. For a $40 breakfast, we were left wanting.
The drinks were the best part of the meal and they came out after our food.

You’ll wait 30+ for anything you order even when the place is almost empty, coffee is weak, the tater tot bowl was actually decent after I took out almost an entire raw onion however the tater tots in the breakfast tacos were cold. The atmosphere in there is very cute and cozy but the food and coffee is just not it.

Waited almost an hour for a breakfast order consisting of avocado toast, bacon, egg & cheese sandwich and avocado bowl. I questioned the wait after 30 min and told the kitchen was short staffed, running behind. At 45 min, told the crowd hit at once. Coffee drinks are weak on espresso flavor. The menu says “scratch kitchen,” but the avocado toast consists of a packaged spread. We watched the kitchen staff carry a container out from their refrigerator. The eggs in the breakfast bowl were cold. Not worth the wait! In town for soccer tournament, we thought this would be a quick brunch stop. Nothing about this visit was good.

Today my mom and I went in the morning and no one was at the cashier counter and I figured we can wait a bit maybe they didn’t see, then 2 workers came out, one female one male, the female worker seemed like she was new but the male worker lazily walked across to the other side of the counter passing right in front of us, without acknowledging our presence, forget saying “I’ll be right with you,” he didn’t even look at us, and then he went back in the kitchen and left us there. Mom and I literally left and went to a coffee shop that was a little farther away (Pettibone Coffee at Woodman) but the workers were MUCH kinder. We felt more welcome there.

I’m leaving 1 start only because this has to be mentioned and brought to attention. I don’t know if that is how he treats all customers or because my mom is covered and he was discriminating. Either way, we didn’t feel welcome.

Another time I had asked a female cashier if our coffee could come with our food and she annoyingly and hesitantly said yes and when the food came she made our coffee with little effort, in a messy way, and wasn’t kind when giving it to us. She had an attitude the whole time.

The other times I went they were really kind but it wasn’t these workers. The food and drinks are also really tasty. I only wanted to bring attention to this because I live in Huber and have been excited to have a cute coffee shop nearby but I don’t want to go here anymore due to these 2 incidents. I was going to give it a 1 star but out of respect to the workers who were kind to me I gave it 3 stars.

I went to try this place yesterday. It was expensive, and the sandwiches we got weren’t even edible! The eggs were burnt black, the bacon was old, both sandwiches basically got thrown in the trash. Huge waste of money. The staff informed me they were out of waffle badder, and biscuits but didn’t offer an alternative or anything. The coffee was good, food wasn’t edible, staff seemed lazy and bored. Don’t waste your time going here! Yuck ?
